She Did It! — FMS581

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch comes all the way from France via our favorite die-cut card-maker professionnelle, Cecile Ribon. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I need a graduation card for our daughter who will finish up her college degree in just a little over two weeks. It has been a long, tough four years, with Covid making it extra difficult. However, she has loved her time in Michigan! I wanted to make her a card using her school colors of maize and blue to personalize her card a little.

I used the December 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit stamp set (the sentiment) and the Best Day stamp set (fireworks and confetti) to make her card.

Some Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon was added as an embellishment, as were some retired resin stars. I used Blueberry Bushel for the ink on this card. It will be returning as a new core color when the next annual catalog is released in May

Rainy Days — FMS580

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is Jen Mitchell, my favorite Bay Stater stamper. Take a look at her fun sketch:

When I saw this sketch, the little critters from the Playing in the Rain stamp set came to mind as I thought I could fit different images in the four panels of the sketch. And then I thought I could make a card for my daughter who loves rainy days.

These images are a combination of images cut from the Rain or Shine dsp collection and the February Paper Pumpkin kit. I arranged the images on a piece of the rainy dsp.

I stamped the sentiment and cut it out so that it would fit better on the panel for the sketch.

Easter Bunny Card and Treats — FMS579

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess this week is our sweet pilot friend, Jennifer Timko. Take a look at her fun sketch:

Easter is only a week away and Spring is in the air. The trees have leaves again and everything is greening up. What a wonderful time of year! I made a little Easter basket care package for my college daughter, and needed a card to include in it. I used the adorable Easter Bunny stamp set to make it.

I knew I wanted to use this sweet bunny stamp for the focal image as it would fit well with an oval die that works with the sketch. I stamped it, the butterfly, and the pretty floral wreath and colored them with alcohol markers before cutting them out with my paper snips. I then stamped some grass from the same set and colored it with a blender pen.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I placed all of this on a lattice shaped die-cut from the Organic Beauty dies set to add some interest to all of the white space.

I had some old gable boxes in my stash and put some jelly beans in one. I added some Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon and a little tag for decoration. The tag was made by using some of the other stamps in the Easter Bunny set. Some of the Sale-a-Bration, Dandy Designs dsp, was used to wrap around the box.

I filled up a couple of old glassine sacks with the rest of the jelly beans and decorated them in the same way.

Sweet Turtle — FMS577

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch comes from the Heartland compliments of Judy Rozema. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I needed a card to send in a care package for my college daughter. Spring Break is over and she is back in the thick of things in that final semester. It’s hard to believe we’ll have another one finished with college in just a few weeks! However, the checkbook won’t get much relief as our youngest will be off to college in the Fall. She still hasn’t decided where she’s going yet, and her choices range from schools that are 250 miles away to 1,500 miles away. It’s a tough decision, and I just pray she’ll pick the one that will make her happiest (and maybe the one that is the closest and the least expensive). 🙂

I hadn’t used the Playing in the Rain set yet, and the turtle in that set is adorable! I decided to use him in one of the focal circles and use the flowers stamp for the other two circles.

I colored the images with my alcohol markers and used some of the Rain or Shine dsp. The little sun is from February’s Paper Pumpkin kit, which coordinates with this stamp set and dsp as well. The sentiment is from the Happy Labels stamp set.

Lemon Squeeze — FMS576

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is my turn to be the hostess, which means I get to provide the sketch. I envisioned a loose collage along the diagonal when I drew it up. I used circles, but the images can really be any shape and in any quantity.

I hadn’t used the Sweet Citrus Bundle, and with the weather finally feeling like Spring here, I thought this was the perfect sketch with which to use it.

I love how this bundle incorporates an embossing folder to add texture to the stamped images! It is such a cool effect!

I placed the images on a piece of Country Gingham dsp. I think the gingham and the lemons look so fresh and pretty together.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! I am looking forward to visiting the gallery to see how everyone uses the sketch. Meanwhile, be sure to visit the Freshly Made Sketches gallery to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

Sad Farwell to Dandy Designs — FMS575

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our fabulous friend from New Zealand, Karren Johnson. Take a look at her classic and fun sketch:

I know the Dandy Designs dsp pack isn’t available anymore because Sale-a-Bration is over. Insert sad face here. But since this is some of my most favorite paper ever, I can’t promise I am not going to use it anymore. Hopefully you stocked up while it was available and can get more enjoyment from it. I made this card using it.

I paired the paper with some dies from the Sentiment Silhouettes dies and the sentiment is from the coordinating Charming Sentiments stamp set. The color scheme comes from the dsp.

Sending Birthday Wishes — FMS574

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite mountain hiking Canadian, Jen Brum. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I recently got the new Saying Thanks card kit. I love the colorful card bases in them. I thought one of the bases would be perfect for a birthday card, so that was my starting point for this sketch.

I stamped the Birthday Wishes with some Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder on a strip of black card stock. The Sending part of the sentiment was die-cut using a die from the coordinating dies.

The top black strip above the sentiment was die-cut using a die from the Blossoming Happiness set. A few sequins were added as embellishments.

This was a quick and easy card. What took me the longest was trying to remember where I put the adhesive sheets, which make it so much easier to adhere skinny die-cut sentiments. I knew I had some somewhere, but I hadn’t used them in so long (because I can never remember where they are). That’s a sure sign I have too much stuff in my stamp room!

Dandy Striped Birthday — FMS573

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite card creating Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I have been loving the Sale-a-Bration dsp, Dandy Designs. I used some of the scraps I have from this collection to make a strip of stripes. And since I’m a little short on birthday cards, I used one of the sentiments from Charming Sentiments and its coordinating die collection to make the sentiment.

I placed the strips on a piece of silver foil paper and placed that on some Petal Pink card stock. I embossed the sentiment with some silver embossing powder and added a little silver trim bow as the lone embellishment. A very simple and easy card! The hardest part was deciding which papers to use.

Because I have a hard time photographing shiny objects, it’s hard to read the sentiment. It says “Wishing you the Happiest of Birthdays.”

Key to My Heart — FMS572

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is our favorite stamper from upstate New York, Linda Callahan. Take a look at her fun sketch:

I needed to make some Valentine’s Day cards and I thought some of the elements in a recent Paper Pumpkin kit would work well with the sketch and would make a great Valentine’s card. Kinda a two birds with one stone situation.

I used the two locks and the key from the kits — no stamping needed. They have pretty gold touches (which are quite difficult to photograph). I paired them with some dsp from my favorite collection, Dandy Designs, which is a Sale-a-Bration offering.

The sentiment is from the stamp set included with the Paper Pumpkin kit. I love that each kit has a stamp set you can keep forever. This kit uses a color combo I don’t think I would ever have come up with on my own. — Fresh Freesia and Calypso Coral. The more I look at it, the more I like it. It’s fun to try something new! I find I get in a rut with my color schemes.

Thanks a Bunch — FMS571

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess, the incredible Jen Mitchell from Massachusetts, has a fun one for us. Take a look:

The Thanks a Bunch stamp set is a current Sale-a-Bration offering, and to be honest, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it if it wasn’t free. But I’m glad I chose it because it is a fun set. I created a card that has a summery feel, which is kind of ironic since we are iced in for the next couple of days here.

I paired the carrots, which were made with two-step stamping, with some of the Dandy Designs dsp. I love this paper and it is another free Sale-a-Bration offering.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we brows the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
