A Red Phone Booth

Thinking of You Phone Booth

I am really loving this Feeling Sentimental stamp set!  And the fact that it’s free during Sale-a-Bration makes me love it even more!

I tried a new technique (new to me, anyways) that I saw our stamping leader, Shelli Gardner, demonstrate at convention last summer.  She took paper from a book and used a paintbrush to apply Gesso to the pages and then stamped over that once it dried.  I loved the look of that, and now several months later, I thought I would try something similar.  I used our First Edition Specialty dsp.  I like how it toned down the black newsprint a bit so it doesn’t compete as much with the stamped image.  If you try this technique, here’s a tip — not only do you have to let the Gesso dry for a while, but you’ll also need to let your stamped ink dry for a while too (if you’ll look closely, you can see that I didn’t do this on my attempt here and I smudged the red ink and got it on the banners too.  Oops!).

Well, enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Forever & Always

When I saw the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World, I immediately knew what I wanted to make (and that very rarely happens).  I adore the colors in this picture and the clean, fresh image really appeals to me.  Cath picks some of the best inspiration photos.

Forever & Always

I embossed the woodgrain stamped background with white embossing powder.  That’s for the chair in the picture.  I dry embossed the little x’s at the bottom with the Needlepoint Borders embossing folder.  That’s for the big cross-stitches on the pillow.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

The Other Pop-Up Posies Flower

ridged posie

Here’s a card for you using that “other” posie in the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit.  You know the one — the one that looks like white mini-muffin paper wrappers.  Well, at least that’s what I thought it looked like when I opened my kit.  I had a hard time envisioning a cute flower with the supplies.  I referred to it as the “other” flower, which couldn’t be as cute as the Pool Party or Calypso Coral flower.  But guess what — it’s really cute when you follow the directions (they’re included with the kit)!  I will have to give it a new name.  It will no longer be the “other” flower, but will now be called the “really cute white flower.”

I also discovered that I really like Calypso Coral and Basic Gray together.  What do you think about this color combo?

Ok.  I know some of you are really here to find out if you won the blog candy.  I used a random number generator at random.org to pick the winner.  I wanted to show a copy of it, but I couldn’t figure out how to cut and paste it into this post, so you’ll have to trust me on this one.  The winner is:

Pretty Girly Birthday

Well, I think I’ve found a new favorite color combination — for this week, anyways.  It’s Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo, So Saffron, and Crumb Cake.  If you follow this blog at all, you’re probably shocked Pool Party isn’t in there.  Don’t worry — it’s still my favorite color — I just thought I should try something new today.  🙂

Today’s your last chance to get in my drawing for blog candy (see Saturday’s post for information).  I’ll draw a random winner this evening and post the winner’s name tomorrow.  Check back to see if it’s you tomorrow.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Sympathetic Eleanor — PP131

It’s time for a theme challenge at the Paper Players this week.

They aren’t my favorite card to make (and definitely not to send), but it’s always great to have sympathy cards on hand because we all need to send them from time to time.  So join us in this challenge and make a sympathy card for your stash.

Sympathetic Eleanor -- PP131

I pulled out a stamp set that I haven’t been giving enough love, Everything Eleanor.  I think this set is so pretty and I really should use it more.  I colored the flower with my markers and a blender pen.

I hope you can find some time to join us in this challenge at the Paper Players.    Check out what the other designers created here:

I noticed that this week the blog counter on my blog hit 100,000 views.  Wow!  I started blogging at the end of July last year, and I am still amazed to see how global the stamping community is.  I’ve had visitors from countries of which I’ve never even heard.  I’ve also been amazed by how many of you leave kind and encouraging comments and messages, and subscribe to this blog.  It really means a lot to me, and I am thankful for each comment as I know that takes precious time to do.  So, as a thanks from me to you, I’d love to share some blog candy with you.

The blog candy includes the Moving Forward stamp set (wood mount), Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Gumball Green 3/8″ Satin Stitched Ribbon, and Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons.  Unfortunately, I can only offer this to those in the U.S.

To be entered in the drawing for the blog candy, please leave a comment at the end of the post and let me know what kinds of things you’d like to see on this blog.  I’ll draw the winner on the evening of Monday, February 4th.  You will need to check back on Tuesday when I’ll share the name of the lucky random winner, who will then need to email me his/her mailing address.

Have a great Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Perfect You — FabFri11

Yea! It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge! Mindy has a great sketch for us this time around.

I used one of the Sale-a-Bration stamp sets and designer series papers for this one.  I used a sponge dauber to add Rich Razzleberry ink to the Flower Trim (I LOVE that stuff!).

A Garden CASE

One of the things I love about the stamping world, is how there are so many ideas shared online.  When I was perusing Pinterest the other day, I came across this card by Laurie Wilson.  I love her style and I loved this card in particular, so I thought I would CASE (copy and share everything — stampers’ vernacular) it using Stampin’ Up products.

Cased Garden

I changed up the color scheme and stamps, using the Secret Garden set with its coordinating framelits dies, which made this card a snap to create.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Ink:  Midnight Muse, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze

A Feminine Thank You

I absolutely love the Tea for Two Suite in the Spring catalog.  It is so feminine and Spring-y.  There are lots of fun elements too — flower trim, lace doilies, pearls, etc…  And I adore the colors!  So I decided to play with this suite yesterday on a gloomy, gray day.

Feminine Thanks

I hope you get to play with your stamps today.  Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!
