Wonderful World of Flowers — FMS548

We’re back with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is provided courtesy of Jacquie Southas. Not only does she make gorgeous cards, but she makes fabulous sketches as well. Take a look:

School starts here today. My youngest is a Senior in high school this year, so this is the last year of having any chicks in the nest. In the craziness of getting last minute preparations done, I needed to make a quick card. So, as I’ve mentioned before, I like to turn to my collection of dsp to make things easier.

I selected one of the sheets from the Sale-a-Bration collection called Wonderful World. It has some beautiful flowers, and I chose one and cut it out with my paper snips. A strip from another sheet of this dsp collecion was used on the right side of the card.

The lattice background was cut using a die from the Organic Beauty die collection, and was adhered to the card base. The sentiment is from the Lovely & Lasting stamp set and was cut using the coordinating punch.

Rings of Love Sympathy — FMS547

We have another new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess this week is the multi-talented Judy Rozema, who is not only a card maker extraordinaire but is also involved in producing a musical in her community. Even with all of this on her full plate, she has made a fun sketch for us this week. Take a look:

I needed to make a quick sympathy card, and an easy way to make a quick card is to let dsp be the star of a card. There’s a pretty sheet of bird images in the Rings of Love dsp collection, which is a Sale-a-Bration offering. I thought it would be perfect for a sympathy card, so that is where I started.

I stamped the sentiment and pretty border frame from the Lovely & Lasting stamp set. There is a coordinating punch for this stamp set. I added a baker’s twine bow and called it a day.

Charming Birthday Sentiment — FMS546

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it is my privilege to be the hostess. I think there are some great opportunities to be creative with this sketch, so I am really looking forward to visiting the gallery this week!

When I designed this sketch, I thought I’d use one of the many floral sets in my stash. However, since my hubby’s birthday is this week, I really needed to make a birthday card and floral sets weren’t going to cut it for that. So I went totally off track. What else is new? ha!

I used the Charming Sentiments bundle to make the focal image. I cut out the candles and stars with some of the coordinating dies. The polka dot dsp is from the Celebrate Everything collection, which is a hostess offering in the mini catalog.

I hadn’t used Pacific Point in a long time, and I’d forgotten how much I like it. I’m glad the colors in this dsp made me pull it out again.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Please feel free to change it up and use different shapes to make the sketch work for you. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Splendid Thoughts — FMS545

For those who haven’t melted in this crazy heat yet, we have a new sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches. In North Texas, we are doing our best to see how many days we can break the 100 degrees mark. So far, we have had 22 days, and it isn’t even August yet. The record was set in 2011, when we had a whopping 71 days over 100 degrees. Please, Lord, may we not come close to breaking that record. So far, we are only one day behind that year at this point in the summer.

Our hostess this week, Narelle Farrugia, is certainly not experiencing the same weather problems since she is currently enjoying Winter as she lives in Australia. She has a fun sketch for us. Take a look:

I thought the new Splendid Thoughts bundle would work well with this sketch as there are some long, slender images in the set that would work well with this orientation,

I stamped the images three times and cut them out with the coordinating dies. The little bees were also stamped and cut using the same bundle.

I cut out some white rectangles using the Deckled Rectangles Dies, and placed the images and die-cut leaves on them. The rectangles were placed on a Pool Party Card from the current Sale-a-Bration offering, which I believe is already sold out.

The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments bundle. I added some Opal Rounds and baker’s twine as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!

Hippo Love –FMS544

There’s another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today. Our hostess this week is our favorite New Zealand stamper and card maker extraordinaire, Karren Johnson. Take a look at her fun sketch:

One of the fun free offerings in the new Sale-a-Bration catalog is the Hippest Hippos stamp set. There is also a coordinating Hippo Dies set, which is another Sale-a-Bration offering. I thought the size of these cute hippos would work perfectly with the sketch, so I started my card by coloring one of the cute hippos.

I added a strip of dsp, which came from the Wonderful World dsp collection, which is another Sale-a-Bration offering. And I cut out a frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies collection.

This card came together quickly with the use of all of the dies and the great sketch.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Everything Wonderful — FMS542

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the very talented Coloradan stamper, Kim Singdahlsen. Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

One of the new sets in the annual catalog that I got but still hadn’t used is the Lovely & Lasting stamp set. I really got it for the sentiments and the label in the set, but of course I didn’t use any of those for this card; I used the flowers and used a sentiment from the Charming Sentiments set.

I stamped the flowers three times — once in Calypso Coral, once in Parakeet Party and once in Crushed Curry. I then cut everything out with my paper snips and pieced it all back together. The flowers were placed on a strip of dsp from the Butterfly Kisses dsp.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch. We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Greyhound Chair — FMS541

We’re back with another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Canadian stamper extraordinaire, Jen Brum, is our hostess. She has a versatile sketch for us that is perfect for showcasing a small to medium sized focal image. Take a look:

When I saw one of the new hostess stamp sets, I thought one of the images could pass for a greyhound. And since we recently adopted one named Duke, I knew I wanted to make a card with this stamp. Duke is adjusting well to being in our home. He is super sweet, lazy, and still tortures our other dog, Millie, by not playing with her very much. He likes to play chase with her in the backyard, but it’s a very unfair game considering she’s a Pug and her little legs can’t keep up.

Of course, a greyhound would completely fill up a chair, so this isn’t the most realistic image for a greyhound. And Duke isn’t allowed on the furniture, so it’s doubly unrealistic for my purposes. But it sure is a cute image! And with the coordinating sentiments, I thought it would make a great card for our daughter who is away at college, and only got to spend a couple of days with Duke before she had to go back to Michigan for the summer.

I stamped the image and colored it with alcohol markers, and then cut out an Early Espresso frame with a new die set called Fabulous Frames. If you look closely you can see some embossed accents on the frame.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch. We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Cottage Rose Birthday — FMS540

It’s time for another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our hostess is the ever-talented Jen Mitchell. Take a look at her fun sketch:

This sketch stumped me for a while. Then I decided to take some creative liberties and instead of using two rectangles, I’d use two large blooms. Hmmm…Maybe that was a big leap. But hopefully, you can see the sketch in my card. Just squint a little (or a lot).

I pulled out three different sets of dies for this card. The first is the pretty lattice background, which comes from the Organic Beauty Dies. Ever buy a set of dies for just one die? Yeah, that’s what I did here.

I stamped the flowers and cut them out with their coordinating dies. They are part of the Abigail Rose suite. I colored them with alcohol markers.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set but was cut out with a die from the Sending Dies collection. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on black card stock.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Sending Love with an Envelope — FMS539

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our sketch is provided by our incredibly talented friend who flies the friendly skies, Jennifer Timko. Take a look at what she has for us:

One of the new stamp sets in the annual catalog that I fell in love with right away is the Full of Love set. And while it doesn’t fit the sketch perfectly, I thought it was pretty close.

I started by stamping and coloring the image with alcohol markers, and then cutting it out with my paper snips. I placed it on a piece of white card stock which was die-cut with the Dots & Spots die.

A little strip of dsp from the Butterfly Kisses collection was placed under the sentiment strip. It is also from the Full of Love stamp set.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch. We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week. Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
