A Ghost in the Pumpkins

Ghost in the PumpkinsAre you a Halloween fan?  I like Halloween, but I really only like fun & cute Halloween. I don’t really like scary Halloween.  So this Fall Fest stamp set is right up my alley.  I like the cute ghost and when you add googly eyes, he becomes fun too.

Ghost in the Pumpkins Close UpI used the Polka Dot Decorative Mask (stencil) for the background.  I used a sponge dauber and Smoky Slate ink as well.

I also pulled out my That’s the Ticket stamp set, which hasn’t seen ink in a long time.  I need to remember to use that set more.  I love the fun touch tickets add.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Thanksgiving Stuffing

Stuffed ThanksgivingI recently won the Mingle All the Way stamp set as a door prize at a Stampin’ Up! event.  It has lots of cute sentiments that work great as focal elements.

I paired it with the Fall Fest stamp set and coordinating dies and added some (lots) splatters and Candy Dots.  The washi tape is from the Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape collection.

Another Blooming Birthday

Cut Around FlowerI hadn’t played with the Flower Patch set and coordinating framelits in a long time so I decided to pull that set out to make a card.  I saw this pretty and CAS card made by Maile Belles on Pinterest and loved the layout, so I decided to CASE it.

My base layer is the Pear Pizzazz layer. I then stamped the flower on a 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock.  I drew a line in very light pencil about 1″ from the edge and used my paper snips to cut up the line to the flower and then cut around the flower, letting the flower extend beyond my cutting line — in other words, the blue part of the flower is the same layer as the white card stock.  Only the yellow part of the flower is popped up.

Cut Around Flower Close UpI added some In-Color sequins and stamped the sentiment in black ink.  The leaves were stamped with Pear Pizzazz ink .  The other colors I used were Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon, So Saffron, and Crushed Curry.  A pretty simple card.

Soft Holiday Cheer — FMS154

Are you ready for another great sketch today?  I hope so because the super talented Cindy Lovell has a fabulous sketch for us all the way from Germany:

I love the beautiful All is Calm Specialty dsp in the Holiday catalog, but I hadn’t used any of it yet.  So I decided it was time to pull it out.

Holiday Cheer TreeI layered my main panel on a piece of a Silver Foil Sheet.  The cute sentiment is from the Cheerful Tags stamp set.  I embossed the tinsel on the tree with Silver Stampin’ Emboss powder.

Holiday Cheer Tree Close UpWe hope you’ll play along with us this week and post your card to the gallery.  Meanwhile, you should go check out what the rest of the design team made with this fun sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches site.

Feathers of Gold — Monday Montage #28

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberI hope you’ve had a good weekend, and that you’ve been able to spend some time stamping.  We have another Monday Montage blog hop ready for you, so we’d love to share with you what we have been working on lately.  Just click on the links at the end of each post to navigate your way through all ten blogs involved in the hop.

neutral feathersI recently attended a Unite & Excite event, which is a get together for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators to network and share ideas.  And as with any Stampin’ Up! event, there was lots of swapping going on.

This is the swap I created for the event.  It isn’t my normal style in that there isn’t much color.  I decided to let all of the gold accents shine against a base of neutral colors.  It’s nice to mix it up every once in a while.

I embossed the feathers from Four Feathers with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then cut them out with the coordinating framelits.  I added a little touch of Gold Glimmer Paper, Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine, and Gold Basic Metal Buttons as well.

The background was stamped with Whisper White Craft ink using a stamp from the Dotty Angles stamp set.  The dsp is from the Typeset dsp package (I seriously love this paper). The sentiment is from the set And Many More.

You are ready to venture on to Breelin Renwick’s blog to be amazed by her creative talent.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can click on the “back” button to visit the inspiring Wendy Weixler.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all ten blogs.

Fall is Coming

I’m keeping the faith — Summer is almost over and Fall is coming.  It was in the upper 90s here today, but the weatherman says a cold front is coming to North Texas.  Highs in the 70s and 80s over the next few days may not exactly sound like Fall, but hey, it sounds pretty darn good to me.

When I saw that The Paper Players had a Fall-themed challenge this week, I knew I wanted to play.  Plus, it has “y’all” in the title — perfect for a Texan, right?

So I pulled out my Fall Fest and For All Things stamp sets and coordinating Fun Fall Framelits dies and got to work.

Fall is ComingI even managed to use a little Blackberry Bliss (still trying to overcome my stamping fear of purple).

Circle of Thanks — FMS153

Hooray for Wednesday!  Wednesdays bring us a new challenge over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week the oh-so-kind and lovely Jen Brum is our hostess.  She is so talented with her CAS style, and she has a great sketch for us this week.

This is a nice, simple sketch which offers so many possibilities.  But for some reason, I really spun my wheels with it.  It took me forever to settle on a stamp set, then it took a long time to pick colors, and then I just couldn’t get happy with my layout.  But I had a deadline and after wasting lots of time, it’s amazing how much I can get done with just fifteen minutes left on the clock when I have to.  🙂

Circle of ThanksI ended up using the #hello stamp set and a color combo of Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry with a little gold thrown in there.  These are two colors I really like but rarely use anymore, so it was nice to dust those ink pads off a little.

The splatters are from the Gorgeous Grunge set (does it even need to be introduced anymore?), which I embossed with gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Circle of Thanks close upWe would love for you to join us and make your own card for this challenge.  We love looking at all of the cards in the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team made this week.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cheer Here

Christmas CheerHere’s a simple Christmas card for you today.  I used the Cheerful Christmas set, which has such pretty images.  I also used a few of the Frosted Sequins embellishments.  I love that these embellishments include different sizes and styles.

Christmas Cheer Close UpI’m slowly but surely starting to make a little stack of Christmas cards.  Have you started yet?  Or are you more of a last minute person?  I usually tend to be the latter.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Rootin’ Tootin’ Birthday

rootin tootin birthdayI had some fun with the Yee-Haw stamp set again.  I love the images in this set, and they are fun and easy to color and cut out.  I also used the new Lucky Stars embossing folder, which is in the Holiday catalog, but it’s so versatile you can use it for many occasions.

rootin tootin birthday close upI used a sponge and some Whisper White Craft ink on the stars to make them show just a little bit more.  And I used my Blendabilities to color the rope and hat images.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Peace & Joy in the Trees

Peace & Joy TreesI’ve got another Christmas card for you today.  I love this fun new set, Festival of Trees, because it’s so easy to decorate the trees however one likes.  The sentiment is from Good Greetings.

I used two different sheets of dsp from two different packages.  The Soft Sky sheet is from the Nordic Noel dsp and the Cherry Cobbler is from the Trim the Tree dsp stack.

The beautiful ribbon is some of the Cherry Cobbler 1″ Sheer Linen Ribbon.  I love how easy it is to make pretty bows with it.
