Mosaic Sneak Peek

One of the cool things about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that we are allowed to see and pre-order selected items from catalogs before they are released to the public.  Last week we were given the opportunity to do this for the upcoming new annual catalog.  One of the new sets I ordered is called Mosaic Madness, and it has a cool new embossing folder and punch which coordinate with the stamp set.  I love coordination!

Mosaic Sneak Peek

This stamp set is super fun!  I can’t wait to play with it more.  I love how it is so easy to build mosaic patterns because you can easily layer the stamps.  Plus, the punch makes it easy to cut them out.  And since the embossing folder coordinates with the punch and stamps, you can use either (or both, as I did with this card) directly on the embossed card stock.  So many possibilities!  So much versatility!

I used the layout from this awesome card made by Christina MacLaren.  I used different colors and different stamp sets, but the same layout.  She always makes such beautiful CAS cards.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

This was a super simple card.  I must say that I don’t understand why the Color Spritzer Tool is being retired.  It’s probably my favorite tool!  I will definitely be hanging onto mine.

I pulled out a neglected stamp set, Betsy’s Blossoms, which I am glad to see is not being retired next month.

I’ll Miss Baja Breeze and the First Edition DSP

I needed to make a simple thank you card to put in the mail.  This card is a notecard sized card.  I still have some of my First Edition dsp that I covered with Gesso a while back.  I stamped the flower and sentiment directly on it (don’t forget to give it plenty of time to dry after stamping).

Thankful Bloom

I used a couple of my favorite retiring products on this card — Baja Breeze card stock and ink and the First Edition dsp.  I will really miss both of these.   However, after looking at the new catalog (which will go live on May 31), there are some beautiful new blues coming and there is a new background stamp that could be used to achieve a similar look as the dsp.  Whew!

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday to You

Happy Birthday to you!  Happy Birthday to you!  Happy Birthday, dear Vicki!  Happy Birthday to you!  Today at Freshly Made Sketches we are celebrating Vicki Burdick’s birthday with her.  You have probably visited her blog (and most likely, love it as I do).  So go by and leave her some birthday wishes.

There is a new sketch for you today designed by the talented Allisa Chilton at Freshly Made Sketches.

I pulled out my Cross My Heart stamp set, which has fun little crossword sentiments, and pulled my colors from the Print Poetry dsp stack.

To make the little button/flower embellishment, I used one of the larger Silver Basics Designer Buttons.  I punched three 7/8″ Scallop Circles from dsp and then put a 1/2″ Circle of Raspberry Ripple card stock and an In-Color Dahlia on top.

Enjoy your Wednesday, and come play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Back to Epic Day

Diagonal Friend

Ok, I was really good last week!  I didn’t use any of the This and That Epic Day products for the whole week.  But it’s a new week, and I love this stuff.

I was totally inspired by this card made by Laurie at Soapbox Creations.  I think she is so talented at making clean and simple cards that are so striking.  I used my diagonal plate for the Simply Scored tool to make the diagonal lines on the Basic Gray card stock.  The stamp is from My Paper Pumpkin’s intro kit.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Hey There (My Paper Pumpkin)
Ink:  Basic Gray
Paper:  Basic Gray, Pool Party, This and That Epic Day dsp

A Girly Artistic Etchings Card

A Girly Artistic Etchings Card

One of the old in-colors that I am most excited about returning is Blushing Bride.  I think it is such a pretty shade of pink and I thought it would look good with Calypso Coral.  So I found a sheet of it and put it to use on this card.  I pulled out an old favorite stamp set, Artistic Etchings, as well.  It’s funny how old stamp sets can seem almost new when you use new colors with them (Pool Party and Calypso Coral).  It really freshens them up.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Artistic Etchings
Ink:  Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Versamark
Paper:  Pool Party, Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Tea for Two dsp

Yikes!! A Single Layer Card — PP142

Jaydee has a great challenge for us over at The Paper Players.  And boy, was it ever a challenge for me.

I think I could count on one hand the number of times I have made a one-layer card.  😉  I really had to put some thought into this one.  I ended up pulling out my Stippled Blossoms stamp set because the flowers are so beautiful.

Floral One-Layer Sympathy

I scored two lines on this card, and used a black marker and a ruler to draw the lines over and under the sentiment.  I must say that I really enjoyed making this card.  I got to do a lot of stamping on it and that was fun.

Go check out what the other designers made for this challenge.  I was really impressed with their creations:

Enjoy your Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Stippled Blossoms, Loving Thoughts

A Manly Ikat Birthday Card

I never have enough guy birthday cards.  So I was inspired to make one today for my stash.

Manly Ikat Birthday

I must confess that I’ve had a hard time using the Parker’s Patterns dsp in the Spring catalog.  I love all of the patterns and colors, but they’re just so bold.  So I decided to let the paper be the star of the card.

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Ink:  Versamark
Paper:  Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Parker’s Patterns dsp
Embellishments:  White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Silver Basics Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Natural 7/16″ Trim Ribbon, Finishing Touches Edgelits
