Celebrate with Cake

Here’s a quick and easy card for you today. I did some paper piecing and paper piercing on this card.

One of the things that I love about framelits vs. punches, is that you can place the framelit anywhere on your card stock that you like. That isn’t always easy to do with punches, especially if you want something punched in the middle of the card. Framelits make it easy to make little windows.

Fresh Floral Fusion Thanks

When I saw the current sketch at Retro Sketches, I knew I needed to find the time to play along. I love this sketch!

I am in love with these colors together right now — Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Island Indigo. I think they are so fresh and Spring-y.

I dyed the flowers, made from Creped Filter Paper by placing the flowers directly on my ink pad and using a sponge dauber to dab them until they were well inked.

Purple Butterflies

My 6th grade daughter and I attended a memorial service for a beautiful little 6 year-old girl this past weekend, who lost her courageous battle with brain cancer. My daughter is good friends with her 6th grade sister. My heart goes out to their family, who have been amazing witnesses for the Lord through this whole experience. I have been absolutely amazed at their strength and unwavering faith.

Ileana loved purple, and the memorial service was packed with those wearing purple in remembrance of her. I wanted to make a purple sympathy card for her family.

The most talented Anne Marie has a pretty color challenge for us at the Paper Players today.

I must say that I was saddened to hear that Baja Breeze will be retiring in just a few more weeks. I love that color!

I pulled out a couple of products I hadn’t used in a while for this card — the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the Alhambra wheel. Notice I didn’t use the This and That Epic Day dsp? See, I do have some self-control. 🙂

Fun Flowers Thanks — FabFri16

It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge. This week we have a color challenge for you, and I love these colors together:

I continued my use of the This and That Epic Day dsp — I’m addicted, remember. I even used it for another card tomorrow, so I hope you’re not sick of it. Don’t worry, I recognize I have a problem and I will force myself to put it away and not use it next week (at least not most days).

I pulled out my Fun Flowers Bigz die, which I hadn’t used in a long time, and embossed the flowers with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and spritzed them with Crumb Cake ink. I think I’m getting addicted to that Color Spritzer tool, too. 🙂 Uh-oh!

A Ruler Pun (It’s Bad)

Sorry for the bad pun on this card — I just couldn’t help myself. I also couldn’t help using the This and That Epic Day dsp again. I think I have an addiction issue. 🙂

My daughter went to a masquerade dance at school last month, and we made her mask. It had to match her dress, of course. I still had some of the leftover sequins sitting on my desk, and I’ve seen sequins being used in the paper crafting industry lately, so I thought I’d put some on this card to add a little extra bling. I put little rhinestones in the centers to cover up the holes.

I hadn’t used one of my favorite stamps sets, You’re Amazing, in a while. And I couldn’t resist using the new This and That Epic Day dsp — I love this stuff! You could definitely say this card has some of my favorites!
