It’s a new week (thank you, Lord!) and we have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches. Our hostess this week is Kim Singdahlsen, our Colorado friend who makes absolutely gorgeous cards. Take a look at this fun sketch:
I hadn’t played with the Art Gallery stamp set yet and I needed to make a birthday card, so I decided to go that route.
I started out by stamping the flower. To get the tone-one-tone coloring, I stamped off with one stamp three times before stamping on the white card stock. The second stamp was stamped full strength. The flower was then die-cut using the coordinating dies.
The three little strips were die-cut from a piece of dsp from the Fine Art Floral dsp collection using another of the coordinating dies. I mounted those pieces on strips of Bumblebee card stock. The sentiment also comes from the Art Gallery stamp set.
I was thankful for some time in my craft room yesterday. I needed some stamping therapy. There were too many goodbyes the past few days. What with sending two of mine back off to college, putting my husband in quarantine upstairs as he started showing symptoms of Covid (and did test positive but seems to have a fairly mild case), and putting our beloved dog, Maggie, to sleep, it’s been an emotionally exhausting week.
I shared over 7 years ago in this post, how I went to Stampin’ Up convention and came back to find my family had adopted a dog while I was away. She was such a sweet dog and a loyal companion in my craft room, snuggling in by my feet while I worked. She seemed perfectly healthy, other than being much thirstier than normal, until the day last week when we had to unexpectedly put her down. It has been heartbreaking, as I know those of you who have lost a beloved pet know. I’m ready for my husband to get out of quarantine so I can get a big hug and have a shoulder to cry on. 2021 hasn’t been very kind so far, but I am hopeful that all of the bad things were just compressed into this one week. 🙂
We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration!
Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh my, you have had a rough go of it! Praying that your hubby recovers soon and you can hang in there until he is out of quarantine! And sorry about your sweet little pup…that makes it even harder! Your stamping therapy was good though–a beautiful creation! Sending you a cyber hug as well!
Thank you for your lovely card and I am terribly sorry for the terrible week you had. It was a doozy. I hope things get better soon.
Amy, I am so sorry for the “goodbyes” and sadness! I am happy your husband is doing relatively well, too, thank goodness! I remember the “whole thing” about coming home from convention to a surprise/new puppy; I am so terribly sorry about Maggie (did I remember her name correctly?)! I’m so sorry. Our “Frank” pug turns 11 on ground hog day and isn’t walking well; is dragging himself w/o use of back legs unless on the carpet. He has PDE and we think the water is pressing more severely on his nerves, etc. But interestingly, he’s been drinking a lot more water, too. I think Frank’s days are numbered. I am sincerely sorry for your loss…. and am praying that 2021 will quickly turn around “for us all!” God Bless! I LOVE your card, also; woot! xox
Hugs, Amy! I can totally relate to the too quiet house after the kids leave, I had my husband quarantined upstairs in November, and had to put our precious cat, Tinkerbelle, to sleep in January last year. COVID just makes all things harder. Be kind to yourself and do as much fun stuff as you can!
Oh Amy, how heartbreaking. I am so sorry for Maggie’s loss. And to not have your husband there to help you grieve! I hope that he recovers quickly, and that you both will find some peace together. Happy memories of Maggie to you in 2021. Your card is absolutely gorgeous. The flower is definitely beautiful, but the way you worked with those strips is awesome! Love it!
Losing a sweet pup is heartbreaking! I do remember when you unexpectedly got her! Our dogs definitely become cherished family members. Glad your husband has a mild case and hope he is out of quarantine soon. This past year has just been a nightmare ! Hope some crafting time helps….your card is very pretty…..love the flowers with that new set! Sending love…..xox
I’m so sorry you had to say good bye to your sweet pup!!! It’s amazing how quickly they become a part of your family. I hope your husband is recovering and you are staying healthy as well! Hugs to you!
Oh Amy! I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I’m so sorry about the loss of your sweet pup and to have to do it all alone right now! I will be praying that your husband heals quickly and that you stay healthy! Your card is beautiful and I’m glad you were able to have a few minutes of crafting therapy!
Your card is beautiful and that flower is just gorgeous. I am so very sorry you had to say goodbye to your adorable wee fur-baby, Amy. Hugs. I hope things look up for your family soon.
First off I am so very sorry about the loss of your little Maggie. It’s really hard to lose our furry family members. Also I’m hoping by now your hubby is doing much better. – Now on to your lovely card. The flower is so colorful and cheery looking.
I’m so sorry for all the goodbyes – and so very sorry you have had to go it all alone. I’m glad you had some stamping therapy although missing your little foot warmer had to have been heartbreaking. Sending virtual hugs and hoping you have real life hugs soon.
