Red Dahlia –FMS497

Hello, August! I can’t believe I’m saying that already! School starts next week here, and my older two kids will be moving into new digs over the next couple of weeks. That means a couple of trips to Atlanta and Ann Arbor are coming up fast for me. Busy days! But it’s all good! Speaking of good, our hostess at Freshly Made Sketches is the amazing Jacquie Southas, who I believe has also been helping her daughter resettle to a new home far away. Take a look at her fun sketch:

There’s a new catalog and Sale-a-Bration offering on the block this week! When I saw the sketch, I knew this big new flower in the Delicate Dahlias stamp set would be perfect to fill up some of the white space. It’s a Sale-a-Bration set, so that means it’s free with a qualifying order.

I started this card by running the Stitched Greenery die through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. It’s a cool die plate that is like an embossing folder, but instead cuts stitched leaves onto your cardstock.

I then added some strips of black and white paper from the Pattern Party collection. The flower and leaves were stamped with Memento black ink and then stamped with Poppy Parade and Old Olive inks. I love that you can choose to color in the flowers on your own or you can use the stamps to do it. I went the easy route this time and used the stamps. I then cut them out with my paper snips.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set and was cut out using a die from the Harvest dies, which is a collection in the new mini catalog.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! We love to see what you make as we browse the gallery each week! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!
