Butterfly Birthday — FMS538

My goodness — it’s been a long time since I’ve stamped! Over 3 weeks! My college girl came home for a quick 10 day visit (I hadn’t seen her since Christmas vacation), we got a new dog (I’ll share more about him at the end of this post), and I took a week-long cruise with my younger daughter. All good things!! But they did require a break from stamping for a while. I was excited to come back and see this fun sketch from the super talented Jacquie Southas at Freshly Made Sketches. Take a peek:

I absolutely adore the new Butterfly Kisses designer paper. The colors and patterns are so happy and pretty! I decided to make it my starting point. I cut out some of the butterflies from one of the sheets and used another sheet for the vertical strips.

The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments stamp set and was cut out with the coordinating dies. I used some white embossing powder on a piece of Starry Sky card stock.

Some sequins from the For Everything Fancy Sequins were added as the sole embellishments. A simple card to ease myself back into stamping again.

My son has been wanting to adopt a Greyhound for the past year. We started the process with a rescue group several months ago, and got the call that they had a match for us a couple weeks ago. We had just adopted Millie, our sweet Pug, back in December and have always had Pugs in the past. We’ve never had a big dog before. So let’s say that a greyhound has been a big adjustment! He is a big dog! We named him Duke, which is a running joke in our family. When I was pregnant with our son and my husband and I were trying to decide on a name, his first choice was Duke. I told him that’s a dog’s name. I have always teased our son that his name was almost Duke, so when he got this dog, Duke was the logical name for it.

Millie has been determined to befriend Duke. She wanted to play with him and just be near him from the first day. But Duke ignored her. It has taken a couple of weeks, but he seems to be warming up to her. They chase each other in the back yard (I’ll bet you can guess which dog wins that game every time), and he’ll even let her sit with him. He is super sweet and very lazy! Before we learned about greyhounds, I thought they would be high energy dogs, but that is far from the truth. He likes to run around in the back yard for about two minutes, and then he’s ready for a nap. He fits in well in our house!

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch! Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!
