Snowflake Greetings — FMS#313

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite and talented New Zealander, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Someday, I am going to make it to New Zealand!  And when I do, I really hope Karren will agree to give me coloring and technique lessons, as she is amazing!  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

I’m continuing with my Christmas card journey, though I have stepped away from the Seasonal Lantern stamp set this week.  Those circles made me think of snowflakes, and then it was easy from there.

I went with an unusual color combo for snowflakes and Christmas, for that matter.  I cut the snowflakes from Powder Pink and Sweet Sugarplum card stock, and some more from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using dies from Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

The sentiment was embossed with silver embossing powder and cut out with a Stitched Shapes Framelit die.  It is from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set.  Some fun sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment and sequin trim add a little shine.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch!  We love seeing what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches website to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Christmas Cheer Lantern — Monday Montage #104

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of nine stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been enjoying playing with the Seasonal Lantern bundle.  This bundle comes with a detailed die for the lantern and another die for the stamped lantern.  My last card used the detailed die and this card uses the stamped lantern image.

I paired the lantern with some dsp from the Merry Music collection and the Merry Little Christmas collection.  The sentiment was stamped on Basic Black card stock and embossed with white embossing powder.

You’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog.  I always love seeing what she makes!  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can jump back to Wendy Weixler’s blog.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all of the blogs so you don’t miss a thing.

A Lantern Full of Christmas Cheer — FMS

We have a new sketch for you today over at Freshly Made Sketches thanks to our favorite French design team member, Cecile Ribon.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

I’ve been playing with a new bundle, The Seasonal Lantern bundle, and thought it would work well with this sketch.  I have really enjoyed playing with this bundle.  It has fun stamps, which allow you to color (the Stampin’ Blends markers work great with this set) or you can use the stamps that come in the set to fill in the images.  Since I’ve been addicted to the Stampin’ Blends markers, I went that route with this card.

I started by die-cutting the lantern from a gold foil sheet.  There is one die that outlines the inside of the lantern, and that was cut from gold glimmer paper.  The other dies were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink  and colored with Stampin’ Blends markers.

I stamped one of the sentiments repeatedly on a piece of Pool Party card stock and added a piece of Merry Little Christmas dsp.  Half of a doily and some gold metallic thread were added as embellishments.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Helpful Elf — FMS311

We’re ready with a new sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And this week, our favorite Canadian, Jen Brum, is our hostess.  Jen has a gift for making clean and elegant work beautifully together.  Her sketch this week is a fun one!  Take a look:

I’ve been on a little bit of a roll with Christmas cards lately, and I really wanted to use a new stamp that I love so much and thought would work well with this sketch.  In my last post, I used a different stamp from this set, Festive Phrases.  But I think the elf stamp is my favorite.

I think this little guy is so cute!  And he’s very fun and easy to color, especially with the new Stampin’ Blends markers which you can now purchase.

I used some Merry Little Christmas dsp and a snowflake die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies.  Some silver Metallic Enamel Shapes were used for the little pom-poms on his hat and shoes.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch above.  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Merry & Bright Lights — FMS#310

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Rocky Mountains stamper, Kim Singdahlsen, is our hostess.  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

I pulled out a new stamp set, Festive Phrases, and some of the Quilted Christmas dsp and got to work.  I love all four of the images in this stamp set, and I think they all have fabulous fonts.

This card came together quickly.  I’ve been stuck on traditional Christmas colors lately, and continued that trend with this card (except for the little lights).

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

From Our Family to Yours — FMS309

It’s time for another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week our favorite friend from upstate New York, Linda Callahan, is our hostess.  Take a look at the fun sketch she has for us:

I have always wanted a Christmas sentiment that says, “From Our Family to Yours,” so when I saw one that says just that in the Snowflake Sentiments set, I knew I had to have it.  Have you ever bought an entire stamp set for just one sentiment?  Truth be told, I love all of the sentiments in this set, and I know I will use many of them, but I would have bought it anyways for just this one.

I paired this lovely sentiment (isn’t the font gorgeous!) with some Garden Green dsp from the Quilted Christmas pack.  A scrap of black Merry Music dsp was added as well.  I used a bit of Real Red ribbon and one of the Stitched Felt Embellishments to finish things off.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

One Down and the Rest to Go — FMS303

It’s time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches today, and this week the New Zealand stamper extraordinaire, Karren Johnson, is our hostess. Take a look at this fun sketch that she has designed for us:

I have to say it has been hard to focus on stamping this past week with all of the horrible and devastating effects that Hurricane Harvey has had on our state.  While we have not had a drop of rain where I live in the DFW area so I have not been personally affected, I have found myself glued to the news stations and Facebook to check on friends who live in South Texas and my heart breaks for them.  I grew up in a small town in South Texas, not far from Rockport, where the hurricane landed.  We spent many days at the beach in Port Aransas.  It’s unbelievable to see what has happened to this area.  And then the incredible flooding in Houston has been so terrible for other friends.  I have friends who have lost homes, but I am so thankful that they are safe.  Wow!  What an unbelievable week!  If you have been affected, I am so sorry and I pray that you will find relief quickly.

Some of my fellow teammates have been showing beautiful Christmas cards all Summer, and I haven’t made a single one.  So I finally decided that I needed to get started and at least make one to get the ball rolling.  I don’t have any of the new sets yet, so I pulled out one that carried over to the annual catalog, Christmas Pines.  I tried to use the greenery as the star elements in the sketch and the pine cone as the triangle element.  Hmmm….I may have taken some creative liberties with this sketch.

I used a piece of the Wood Textures dsp stack and trimmed it with a bit of Cherry Cobbler card stock cut with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch.

We hope you’ll join us and create you own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create as we browse the gallery each week.  Meanwhile, be sure to drop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Project Life Joy — FMS268

Here we are with our last sketch for 2016 at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our resident Massachusettsan (yes — that’s really a word — I looked it up), Jen Mitchell, is our hostess with the Christmas spirit.  Her gift — a fabulous sketch that is versatile enough to be used for any season or occasion.

fms-final-268-001

While I had my Hello December 2016 Project Life collection out, I made another quick card (or 2 or 3).  I kinda felt like this was cheating for a sketch challenge because there is no actual stamping on this card, but time is at a premium this week, so anything quick and easy is good.

joy-for-plI added a piece of dsp from the Warmth & Cheer dsp stack and a bit of baker’s twine and silver metallic thread, as well as some staples.

I love making square cards, but never think to do them.  I’m so glad Jen made one for this sketch.

joy-for-pl-close-upQuick and easy, like this post.  🙂

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch and post it to the gallery. You have until January 2 to get it in, as we’re taking a little break for the holidays.  We love to see what you create!  Meanwhile, be sure to venture over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Last Minute Christmas Cards — Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Welcome to another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 20 of us from around the globe who will be sharing our projects with you twice each month.  All you need to do to follow along is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

This is the current team’s last hop together, as our term has come to a close.  It has been a fun ride and I have loved getting to know these other ladies.  They are inspiring and they are amazingly talented, and I have been blessed getting to share this journey with them.

Our focus for this hop is on one of three different products.  Since I’m still focused on last minute Christmas cards, I am using the Hello December 2016 Project Life Card Collection to make cards rather than scrapbook pages.  And these are all super quick and easy!

hello-groupIn addition to the Project Life cards, I’ve also used the Fancy Frost dsp.  I love this paper — it dresses up simple cards so easily.

hello-trioI paired these little cards from the Hello December Accessory Pack with some of the Silver 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon and silver metallic thread.  The sentiment is from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and coordinating Christmas Greetings Thinlits dies.

hello-wreathThis card didn’t require any stamping at all.  Some staples and ribbon trim added some fun accents.

hello-deerI embossed the sentiment from Star of Light with silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  A bit of a silver Metallic Foil Doily and silver glitter ribbon peek out from underneath it.

Caroling Mouse — FMS

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our friend who flies the friendly skies, Jennifer Timko, is our hostess.  Take a look at the great sketch she has for us:

fms-final-267-001I wanted to use my favorite Christmas set from the Holiday Catalog again before it retires soon.  It’s the Merry Mice set and it’s currently 20% off, so if you don’t have it, you may want to grab it while you can.

caroling-mouseThe mice in this set are so cute!  And they’re fun to color.  I used an aquapainter and a blender pen on this one.  The Falling Snow embossing folder was used as well.
