Happy Fall Scarecrow — FMS253

These holiday weeks always mess me up.  So even though it doesn’t feel like a Wednesday after our U.S. holiday on Monday, it is and that means it’s time for another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And this week, our fearless Canadian friend, Jen Brum, is our hostess.  I had to point out that she’s fearless because she has included an element on her sketch that used to send her into a panic.  A circle!!  Either Jen has overcome her phobia or else she has decided to face her fear and conquer it.  I am proud of her!

One of my very favorite sets in the new Holiday Catalog is the Cookie Cutter Halloween set.  As if this set isn’t awesome enough solely based on its cute images, there is also a coordinating punch that goes with it.  And to make it even better, there is a Christmas themed set called (you guessed it) Cookie Cutter Christmas.  I love it when there are multiple sets that coordinate with a punch!

Happy Fall ScarecrowI started this one by pulling out a favorite embossing folder from last year, Woodland.  I then made my square background with a piece of Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP.  I love houndstooth patterns, and this pack has two different colors.

Happy Fall Scarecrow Close UpI really wanted to us a Fall-themed sentiment, but couldn’t find one in my sets.  So I just made one using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

Some fun accents — Copper Metallic Thread, Rich Razzleberry ribbon, an In-color doily and Brights Enamel Shapes were added as finishing touches.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch!  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site and see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Peek at Pines — FMS252

Another Wednesday, another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  And this week the fabulous Karren Johnson, our talented friend from New Zealand, is our hostess.  Take a look at this great sketch:

I think I took some creative liberties with this one.  When I saw those four circles, I immediately thought of a collage of fun die-cuts, and I started down a trail far away from four circles.

The new Christmas Pines bundle, which will be available in the new Holiday catalog starting tomorrow, was right at the top of my must-have list.  Fabulous dies, fabulous stamp images and fabulous sentiments are all included in this bundle.

Noel PinesI started with a strip of dsp from the This Christmas dsp package and embossed the sentiment with some of the Real Red Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder (yes!  Glittery embossing powder).

I die cut the greenery and pine cones from Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Kraft, and Early Espresso cardstock with the Pretty Pines Thinlits dies.  A couple of strands of Real Red Baker’s Twine from the Candy Cane Lane Baker’s Twine duo was added as a finishing touch.

Little Bella — FMS251

It’s time for another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week our hostess is Cindy Hall, the master of gorgeous details.  She wows me every week with the extra touches she adds to her cards.  Take a look at the sketch she has for us:

Since I really need to stock up on birthday cards and I haven’t had a chance to ink up the adorable Bella & Friends stamp set, I decided to embrace the opportunity to accomplish both goals with one card.

I think the dogs in this little set are so cute!  There is a little cupcake included in the set, so I figured I could make a birthday card out of it.

Bella BirthdayI watercolored this sweet little guy with an aquapainter using Smoky Slate, Pool Party, and Calypso Coral inks.  The dsp is from the A Little Foxy dsp stack.  I used the Sparkle embossing folder to add a little texture.

I kept this card really simple and stayed quite true to the sketch.  I didn’t even add any embellishments.  That may be a first for me!

Bella Birthday Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and play along with the challenge, making a card of your own.  If you do, please post it in the gallery at Freshly Made Sketches so we can see what you create.  We love browsing the gallery each week!  Meanwhile be sure to pop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team created for a big dose of inspiration.

A Jar of Love and Pretty Flowers — FMS250

We have another sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our wonderfully talented guest designer, Cècile Ribon, is our hostess.  Take a look at what she has for us:

I really love this sketch and I love all of the pretty flowers in the Jar of Love bundle, so it seemed like a natural decision to combine the two.  I wanted to make a card for a friend who is going through some terribly hard things right now, so I wanted to make something cheery and pretty.
Jar of FlowersI stamped the flowers with Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach and Daffodil Delight inks.  The greenery was stamped with Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz inks.  The dsp is from the Fruit Stand dsp collection, and the sentiment is from the Here for You stamp set.

Jar of Flowers Close Up

I love how easy it is to use these two-step stamps and to cut out the images with the coordinating framelits.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  We love to see your creations in the gallery and visit your blogs.  Meanwhile, be sure to move on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team made.  You’ll surely be inspired!

A Copper Medallion — FMS249

Another Wednesday, another sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches! And this week the super talented Kim Singdahlsen is our hostess. Take a look at what she has for us this week:

While I had the Moroccan Nights stamp set out I made another card with it.  I really love the medallion image in this set, and I can’t seem to stop myself from embossing it.  This time I used some of the gorgeous copper embossing powder.

Copper Moroccan MedallionI embossed the image on some Vellum cardstock, and placed it over a piece of the Moroccan dsp.  A piece of burlap ribbon and lace trim were attached, and a piece of Navy Baker’s Twine was tied on top.

Copper Moroccan Medallion Close UpI stamped the sentiment from Thoughtful Banners on a strip of Cajun Craze cardstock and added a little piece of Delightful Dijon doily.

We hope you’ll join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love seeing what you create!  Meanwhile, be sure to jump on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team made.  It will be sure to give you a big dose of inspiration!

Callas Congrats — FMS248

It’s time for another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site!  And this week, the ever clever and terrifically talented Linda Callahan is our hostess.  And she has an original and clean sketch for us, which leaves so many opportunities for interpretation:

I needed to make a wedding card and decided that I could substitute flowers for the feathers in the sketch.  As I was looking through my floral sets, I saw the calla lilies in the Remarkable You set.  Calla lilies always make me think of weddings.  When it came time to color the image, I decided to Google pictures of them, because I always think of Calla lilies as being white, and I wanted to see if they come in other colors.  And they do!  Lots of other colors!

pink callasI decided to color mine with Watermelon Wonder ink using an aquapainter.  The dsp from the Pop of Pink dsp pack and a strip of Watermelon Wonder 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon were used as accents.  The sentiment comes from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.

pink callas close upI added a very light wash of Soft Sky ink around the blooms, which is so light, you can hardly see it in the photo.

We hope you’ll join us and play along this week!  Make your own card using the sketch and post it in the gallery.  We love seeing what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team made for your viewing pleasure.  You’re sure to be inspired and wowed!

Thinking of Falling Flowers — FMS247

It’s Wednesday, and that means we have another sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches.  We have been lucky to have Shannon Jaramillo with us as one of our guest designers.  She is our hostess this week and she has a fabulous sketch for us that allows for so many possibilities:

I needed to make a sympathy card for one of my sweet stamping sisters, and I wanted to make something bright and pretty, like her.  I used a new set I hadn’t inked up yet, Falling Flowers, which has a coordinating set of framelits.

Flowers for YouI started by sponging some Daffodil Delight ink onto a piece of Irresistibly Floral dsp.  The flowers were stamped onto Peekaboo Peach, Watermelon Wonder, and Daffodil Delight cardstock with their corresponding ink pads.

The circle was die cut with the Layering Circles Framelits Dies out of Soft Sky cardstock.  The Vellum cardstock scalloped circle was also cut with these framelits.

Flowers for You Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch and post it to the gallery.  We love to see what you make!  Meanwhile, be sure to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has for you for a big dose of creative inspiration.

A Big Piece of Cake — FMS246

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week the very talented Rita Wright is our hostess.  Look at what she has made for us:

I recently got a new set called Biggest Birthday Ever, and I couldn’t wait to ink it up.  I had to take a few creative liberties with the sketch, but I hope you can still see the sketch in my card.

Big Birthday CakeI started this card by stamping the cake with Daffodil Delight ink.  The cake layers were stamped with Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, Blushing Bride, and Tangerine Tango.  The plate was stamped with Pool Party.

Big Birthday Cake Close upThis bundle is so fun!   I am looking forward to playing with some of the other images in the set.  I make more birthday cards than any other type of card, so it’s good to have another birthday themed set.  However, there are other images in the set that can be used for occasions other than birthdays.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card this week!  We love to see what you create!  Meanwhile, be sure to jump on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team created for a huge dose of inspiration.

Wedding Flourishes — FMS245

These Summer Wednesdays are flying by!  It’s already time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and this week, the wildly talented Jen Mitchell is our hostess with the mostess.  And look at what she has for us:

A square card!  I am so glad to see these in a sketch once in a while, because I forget about making square cards!  It’s so routine to just cut that sheet of card stock in half and go to work, that I often forget that cards can be made in other sizes.

I needed a card to go with a wedding gift, so that is what I started with for this sketch.  I hadn’t used the Flourishing Phrases bundle yet, and I thought it would be perfect for a wedding card, so that was the next step in my design process.

I started by layering a piece of the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate over a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I love these acetate sheets!  One side has silver foil while the reverse side has gold foil.  I chose to use the silver side for this card, as I thought it looked perfect for a wedding theme.

Wedding Flourishes

I chose a color palette of Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, and Garden Green.  I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to make the tag.  The leaves were cut using the Flourish Thinlits, and the sentiment was embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Wedding Flourishes Close Up

I stamped the flower twice, cutting out the top layer and popping it up with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

We hope you’ll be able to play along and join us this week!  We love to see what you create and post in the gallery.  Meanwhile, be sure to drop by the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team created for a big dose of creative inspiration.

A Love Note — FMS244

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for another sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And this week our favorite pilot, Jennifer Timko, is our hostess.  Take a look at what she has for us:

It’s fun to have a card with a different orientation!  I am so used to using a portrait orientation rather than landscape.

My daughter is leaving for a mission trip to Africa today.  She has been excited about this for months, and the day has finally arrived.  She has a 33 hour travel day in front of her before she arrives in Zambia (and then more travel time via bus to get to her destination).  Her group will be serving at an orphanage/school there, and she’ll be gone for a little less than two weeks.  I can’t wait to see her pictures and hear all about her trip when she returns!

I wanted to include some little notes for her to find in her suitcase when she is there, so I had that in mind when making her card today.  She loves this sweet fox image from the Foxy Friends stamp set, so I decided to use it.

Fox LoveI used ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies, and the coordinating Fox Builder Punch for the sweet little girl.  The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and I used the Classic Label Punch to punch it out.

Fox Love Close UpI think it will be a long two weeks for me while she’s gone!  But I know it will be a great experience for her, and I love to see her excitement to step out in faith and serve the Lord by being a servant to others.

We hope you’ll find time to play along with our challenge this week and make your own card using the sketch.  It’s fun for us to see your creativity in action!  Meanwhile, be sure to skip on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site and see what the design team made for a big dose of inspiration.
