A Glittery Noel

Image

I’ve been playing around with the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack today.  There are some really pretty papers in there.  Here’s a card where I really let the focus be on the paper rather than the stamping.  However, I do think this stamped sentiment is gorgeous.  I love the fonts used in this stamp set.  I added a snowflake made with the champagne glitter paper for a little sparkle.  Overall, it’s a simple card.

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Banners are Amazing

It has been hard for me to make a card these past few months without banners, or pennants, or flags, or whatever you like to call them.  They are really trendy right now, and I’m hooked.  So when I saw the challenge at Create with Connie & Mary, I had to play along.

And once again, I pulled out my favorite stamp set, You’re Amazing.  I just love that set!  Who wouldn’t like to get a card that said, “You’re Amazing”?

Christmas Coacoa

I am one of those rare people who doesn’t drink coffee.  In fact, I strongly dislike even the smell of it.  So when I saw this stamp, I decided it must have hot chocolate in it.  At least that way, I can stamp it without wrinkling my nose.  🙂

I made this card using this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

When I saw this sketch, I thought it looked like a pretty easy sketch.  But I just couldn’t get happy with anything I tried.  Finally, I came up with this and decided to call it a day.  Some days are like that, aren’t they?

I hope you have a great Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Yummy Tag

I delivered coffee and some homemade blueberry coffee cake to the second grade teachers at my daughter’s school this morning.  I wrapped the plate of coffee cake with this tag and some twine to dress it up a little.  I only had fifteen minutes to make it, so it had to be easy and quick.  I love all of the detail in this stamp set!  This will be a fun set to use as I make holiday treats.

A Birthday Balloon of Many Colors

I wanted to make a birthday card today and since I’ve barely used any of my International Bazaar designer series paper, I decided that I needed to use it.  This paper intimidates me a little though because the patterns are pretty busy and there are a lot of colors involved.  So I decided to use it in small doses.  I’ve gotta work my way up to it, I guess.  🙂

Have a great Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Simple Double-Challenge Christmas Card

I knew I wanted to participate in the sketch challenge over at the Retro Sketches site this week because the sketch is very simple, yet unique.

Then when I saw the fun tic-tac-toe challenge over at the Paper Players, I knew what I wanted to do with this sketch — make a blue & red Christmas card with buttons.

I love all of the stamps in the sentiment set, Greetings of the Season.  So I picked one and made that the focus of my card.  It was an easy Christmas card.

Have a great week!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Halloween Treat

This is a little treat holder in which a little chocolate bar fits perfectly.  I googled seed envelope templates and found this one, which I loved because you can print out two envelopes on one sheet of card stock.

A Pleasant Surprise

Don’t you just love it when you have a vision for a project and it turns out better than you thought it would?  That’s what happened to me with this project.  I started out knowing I wanted to participate in the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

And then I decided I really wanted to try the color challenge at Color Throwdown, as the inspiration picture is just gorgeous.

But when I pulled out the card stock in these colors, I was a little stumped.  So I just picked a stamp set off my shelf and focused on the sketch, and the colors kinda took care of themselves.  I ended up liking this combination of colors a lot!  What a pleasant suprise!  I love it when that happens!  That’s one of the reasons I like participating in these challenges — sometimes you end up pleasantly surprised at what you like.

Enjoy your Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Embrace the White Space

I still struggle with white space.  I’ve been trying to get comfortable with it, but it doesn’t come naturally to me.  It doesn’t help that whenever I show a card with considerable white space to my husband, he usually says, “It needs something right here,” as he points to the white space.  But sometimes, nothing looks right there — it’s better just white.

Well, I struggled with the white space on this card.  I tried placing little banners made of patterned paper up in the top right corner, and I thought about adding brads…  But in the end, I liked it best with just white space.  Do you ever struggle with this too?  I think we just need to embrace the white space sometimes.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!
