Simple Sympathy

I tend to have a pretty big stash of birthday cards and thank you cards, which comes in handy.  But I never seem to have sympathy cards on hand when I need them.  My husband needed a sympathy card for a gentleman in his Bible study class last week and I had to scramble around to make one for him quickly, as I have a rule of not buying cards in this house.  So today I decided I needed to make one to have available when the need arises.  And unfortunately, that need arises more often than I’d like.

This card uses an unusual color combination I got from the Color Coach — Baja Breeze, Elegant Eggplant, and Summer Starfruit.  I would never have put these colors together on my own, but I like how it turned out.  I have learned to trust the Color Coach!

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Gratitude

I’ve been making a real effort to pull out some stamp sets that haven’t seen ink in a while, especially Fall-themed sets.  This is a set that I really love — I like all of the images in this set.  I used the sketch at the Paper Players site for this card.  I love this sketch.

This was a quick and easy card.  I haven’t had much stamping time lately, so it seems like a lot of my cards have been that way recently.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Here’s a super simple card for you.  I just got this stamp set, Pleasant Poppies, and I thought it would be perfect for the sketch challenge at the Retro Sketches site.

I Couldn’t Help It

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I’ve had my pre-order of Christmas stamps for a couple of months now, and they’ve been patiently waiting for attention.  Well, I couldn’t help but make a Christmas card today because this set, Scentsational Season, is so cute.  I love all of the images in it, and when you consider that there are matching framelits, well…I couldn’t help it, but I had to use them today.

For the green polka dot frame, I used one of the Window Frames Collection framelits on both ends of the paper.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Thanks for stopping by!

It’s the First Day of Fall

Well, here it is — the first day of Fall — and the weatherman says it will get up to 97 degrees here today.  Oh, well.  It will start to feel like Fall before too long.

Nonetheless, I was inspired to make a Fall card today.  I was inspired by the challenge over at CAS-usual Fridays , which is to create a clean and simple project inspired by Autumn and by the challenge over at the Friday Mashup.

So I pulled out a beautiful stamp set that I haven’t used since last Fall, French Foliage, and got busy.  The leaves in this set are gorgeous, and just beg to be used with different techniques.  I took a sponge dauber and applied different colors to each stamp.

This was a fun card to make.  Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  French Foliage, Tiny Tags
Ink:  Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
Embellishments:  sponge daubers, Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Jewelry Tag punch, Early Espresso Baker’s Twine, 5/8″ Crochet Trim, Color Spritzer Tool

Birthday Ribbon

I haven’t used one of my favorite sets, Blue Ribbon, in a while so I pulled it out today.  This stamp set makes me think of the World Spectacular designer paper because they just go together so well, so I pulled it out too.  The designer paper made me think of one of the stamps in the Border Banter set, which was on my desk, so I used it on this card too.  (Does anyone else with small children think this post is starting to sound like If You Give a Pig a Pancake) 🙂

Enjoy your Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Blue Ribbon, Border Banter
Ink:  Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler
Paper:  Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, World Spectacular dsp

I Know It’s Way Too Early for This, But…

I know it’s way too early for Christmas cards, but I’ve had these Christmas papers, stamps and dies staring at me for a few weeks now since we pre-ordered from the Holiday catalog.  And when I saw the sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site and the banner challenge at The Paper Players site, I just instantly knew what I wanted to do with it.  And that so rarely happens to me.

So you see, I couldn’t help but make a Christmas card today.

I covered the snowflake with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and the Very Vanilla looking card stock is actually the Shimmery White card stock — I just can’t get it to shimmer for the camera.

This was a fun sketch and it was fun to make a square card again.  I don’t make many of them.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

3 Cheers for You!

This was not a stamp set that I originally thought I had to have.  But after seeing so many cute cards made with this set, it became a “have to have” set.  It is a really fun set.  I love how it comes with so many pieces so you can mix and match the drinks — strawberry, orange/lime wedge, olive, umbrella, etc…
