Lots of Feminine Happy — FMS327

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Massachusetts resident, Jen Mitchell, is our hostess. She has a sketch that I love, which is easy to use and is very versatile. Take a look:

I wanted to use some more of the Lots of Happy Card Kit, so I pulled out some pieces from it to get started. I think these pieces are so pretty and feminine, so I decided to embrace that and made a very feminine card. I colored the pieces with watercolor pencils and used a blender pen as well.

The Powder Pink card base (this is such a pretty shade of pink!) was stenciled on the bottom portion with some embossing paste and a stencil from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. I added a little strip of gold foil paper to further distinguish the two layers on the card base.

Some other little gold touches were added and this card came together pretty quickly.

Thinking of You on the Waterfront — Monday Montage #111

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop! We are a group of nine stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

Recently, my husband needed a sympathy card for a friend from his Bible study. I wanted to make something more on the masculine side, yet still have a card that would convey caring and peace. Having played with the Waterfront stamp set not long ago, I knew it would be perfect.

This stamp set is so fun to work with because it is so versatile. And it is so forgiving. By adding layers of stamped images, it doesn’t matter if you don’t place something exactly as intended. Nothing has to line up exactly right.

The sentiment is from a Paper Pumpkin stamp set.

Since I wanted to keep it a manly card, I added some Wood Textures dsp on the card base and added a little line thread as the only embellishment. This one was an easy one to make.

Coloring Therapy — FMS326

We have a new sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today. And this week, our friend who is supremely talented at clean cards and coloring, Jennifer Timko, is our hostess. Take a look at this fab sketch:

I was in need of some coloring therapy lately (I think it was the eight day stretch of seemingly non-stop rain and zero sunshine that did it), so I pulled out my Petal Passion dsp and chose a sheet that had a big pattern to color. This sketch is perfect for a large image.

I used my Stampin’ Blends markers for this one. This dsp is perfect for those like me who are never sure where to add shading, as the images have shading drawn for you — all you have to do is color over it.

The sentiment comes from a recent Paper Pumpkin kit, and the scalloped edge was made using the Decorative Ribbon Punch.

Bloom for You — FMS325

It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week it’s my turn to provide the sketch. I’ve used some shapes in this sketch (a star and a circle), but of course you can use any shape you prefer.

I’ve had the itch to color with the Stampin’ Blends markers lately, so I pulled out a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink in a while but I thought would be perfect for coloring.

This flower from Birthday Blooms is such a fun flower to color. I fussy-cut it and placed it on half of a doily. The striped dsp is from the Petal Passion collection.

Bubbly Thanks — Monday Montage #110

One of the cutest suites in the Occasions catalog has to be the Bubble Over suite. And with the free dsp offered through the Sale-a-Bration offering, it was a must-have for me. While it was one of the first things on my initial order, the bottles in this set had yet to see ink until this past week. Once I finally started playing with it, I had so much fun with it.

I started by sponging on some Pool Party ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I then stamped the bubbles, some using the stamped-off technique. A couple of strips of dsp were added to ground the bottles.

For the bottles, I sponged on some ink directly to the stamps. This provided a softer image. Some Glitter Epoxy Shapes were added to resemble the perspiration on the bottles. The star label on the Calypso Coral bottle was punched from the dsp, and the straws were die-cut from vellum cardstock and the bottle caps from a Silver Foil sheet.

Let’s Go to the Beach — FMS324

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! I hope you all get to eat some chocolate and spend time, whether in person or via technology, with someone you love today. I also hope you get to spend some time doing what you love today too — like maybe some stamping. If so, we have a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches that would be a great place to gain some inspiration. Our good friend from down under, Narelle Farrugia, has a sketch that is sure to inspire you. Take a look:

I’ve had a stamp set sitting on my shelf for the past month that I hadn’t even opened yet. I decided it was time to ink it up, and it is so fun! I stamped several little scenes, that I’ll have to make into other cards in the days to come. But with the cold weather we’ve been having, I was drawn to scenes of a warm beach. A girl can dream, right!?!

I started by stamping the images on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. The images look like they’ve been watercolored, but it’s the stamps that provide this effect.

A little strip of Tutti-Frutti dsp and a piece of washi tape were added for the sketch elements. This was all layered on a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock, which was stamped with the splatter stamp in the set.

A Last Minute Valentine

Here is one last Valentine that I made for my youngest daughter to give to her brother who is away at college. I decided to steer away from hearts (though I’m not sure the little lipstick marks are any better), but I couldn’t keep away from including pink once I chose the image.

I thought the black could make it a little more masculine. 🙂 I colored this cute pig with Stampin’ Blends markers. Some black baker’s twine was looped underneath.

I forgot to take a picture of the inside. I used a Paper Pumpkin stamp that says “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

A Punny Knight Joke

Still making Valentine’s Day cards here. I wanted to make a couple that my girls could send to my son, who is away at college. It’s going to be strange not having him at home next week. Both he and my older daughter have birthdays next week. Her’s is on Valentine’s Day and his is two days later. That has always been such a busy week in our house with fun celebrations.My older daughter loves punny jokes. So I knew her Valentine for her brother needed to include one. I used the Myths & Magic suite to create this card. I colored the little knight with the Stampin’ Blends markers. The background was made by inking up an acetate sheet, spritzing it with water, and then pressing it onto the card base.

I printed out the joke by using my laptop and printer. In case you want to hear the rest of the bad joke, here it is.

Happy Bubbles — FMS323

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our friend from way over in beautiful New Zealand, Karren Johnson, is our hostess. Take a look at this fun sketch!

When I first saw the sketch, I thought it would be perfect to showcase some dsp. And my favorite dsp right now is the free Sale-a-Bration offering, Bubbles & Fizz. I love the fun patterns and I love the fun colors.

One of the dsp sheets has little soda bottles (or pop bottles, or Coke bottles, or what do you call them?). I cut some out with my paper snips and added them as embellishments.

The Calypso Coral base layer was stamped with one of the images in the coordinating stamp set, Bubble Over. The sentiment is also from this stamp set and was embossed with white embossing powder.

Valentine Treats — Monday Montage #109

I have been busy making Valentine treats lately. With two girls in school, there are lots of treats to prepare as they love giving them to friends and teachers. And I think hand-crafted treats are extra special and stand out amongst all of the other treats.

I found some Mega M&M’s that are like conversational hearts with little Valentine messages (be mine, you’re cute, etc…) at the store and thought they’d be perfect for these 1″ x 8″ cellophane bags that I had leftover from a previous catalog.

Since I knew the kids wouldn’t spend a lot of time examining the packaging, I kept them pretty simple. Plus, I needed to make a lot of them. I stamped the cute striped hearts from the Heart Happiness set and the sentiment from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set. A gold Metallic Enamel Shape was added as well.

A Gold Binder clip, some ribbon and gold sequin trim were added to dress them up a little.

I put some Peanut M&M’s in some Clear Tiny Treat Boxes, and added some Glimmer Paper and ribbon to help decorate these little treats.

The heart is from the Heart Happiness set and the sentiment is from the Bloomin’ Love set.

This is a quick card I pulled together using the Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes. I love the cute size of this. I stamped the hearts from the Heart Happiness set and the “you” comes from a Paper Pumpkin kit. The washi tape is from the Pick a Pattern collection. Some gold sequins were added, as were some black rhinestones which I had leftover from the Holiday catalog.
