A Taco Truck — FMS274

We have a new sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today.  Our favorite Canadian, Jen Brum, is our hostess this week and take a look at this fun sketch:

fms-final-274-001

I love the cute food truck image in the Tasty Trucks stamp set, which is one of the free Sale-a-Bration offerings.  One of the many benefits of living in Texas is that we have access to many delicious taco options, as well as Mexican and Tex-Mex food in general.  One of our favorite taco places is a small little store in a Shell gas station not far from our house, which is run by a local family.  There is just one big table at which to sit and eat your food, so most people just get their tacos to go or sit and eat with whoever else is there.  They are just like street tacos and are delicious.  Stamping this food truck made me wish they had a taco truck and would come down our street everyday at lunch time.  Yum!

taco-truckI started by stamping the cute little tacos on the Pool Party card base.  I then stamped the truck on some watercolor paper and colored it with an aquapainter and blender pen using my ink pads (Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate, and Crumb Cake).

I added a little ribbon and black metallic thread, as well as some black Baker’s Twine.  Pretty easy!

Sweet 16 — Monday Montage #87

monday-montage-banner-october

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

Two of my children have milestone birthdays next week.  My oldest will turn 18 on Thursday and my middle child will turn 16 on Tuesday.  It is fun to see them grow and mature, but I wish it didn’t have to happen so quickly.

Since my middle child is a Valentine’s baby, when she was little I always made her birthday party invitations and cards with a heart theme.  As she got older, she asked me to stop — she wasn’t into that and wanted a Star Wars theme or a Dr. Who theme, or a whatever-she-was-interested-in-at-the-time theme instead.  I must say it made me a little sad, but I could understand her desire.  But now that she is turning 16, and she is a sweet 16, I couldn’t resist.  One last time!  It’s just too fitting to make her card with hearts for this milestone occasion.

sweet-16I at least tried to use colors that I know she loves — Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, and Bermuda Bay.  She loves bright, happy colors which suits her personality.

sweet-16-close-up

The “sweet” on the sentiment was stamped by selectively inking up part of a sentiment from the Birthday Banners stamp set.  The stamped hearts are from the Sealed with Love stamp set.  The large heart was cut from the Carried Away dsp with a Sweet & Sassy Framelits die.  The tiny hearts are from a Paper Pumpkin stamp set.

I got my inspiration for this card from the current sketch over at the CAS(E) this Sketch site.  Here’s their sketch for the week:

A Simple I Love You — FMS273

We have another new sketch for you to try over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today.  And this week, our favorite friend from New Zealand, Karren Johnson, is our hostess.  Take a look at this fun sketch that she has made for us:

fms-final-273-001

I used this one to make another Valentine’s card.  I love the super simplicity of this sketch, and chose to keep my card just as clean and simple.  I used the Sending Love suite of products.

love-heartsI embossed the hearts with clear embossing powder on Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, and Pink Pirouette card stock, and cut them out with the coordinating die.  Very quick and easy!

I dusted off my sewing machine and added a little crazy stitching around the edges.  It was just so much white space, I felt I had to add something but wanted to keep it clean.

love-hearts-close-up

I love the sentiments that come with this set.  They are just beautiful.  I also finished the inside of the card with this gorgeous sentiment below.

love-hearts-insideI think this card will go to my hubby.  It’s clean and doesn’t have any frills — no ribbon, sequins or bling of any kind.  It does have pink, but I think that’s perfectly acceptable for Valentine’s day.  ha!

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure you drop by the Freshly Made Sketches site and take a look at what the design team has created.  You’ll be inspired!

A Kraft-y Valentine — FMS272

We have another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for you today.  And this week our hostess is Cecile Ribon, our newest team member who inspires us all.  Take a look at this fun sketch:

fms-final-272-001

I’ve been making a big dent in my Valentine’s Day cards and I’ve been having so much fun with the Sending Love suite.  I love all of the images in this set, but I think my favorites are the arrows.

krafty-valentine

This was really a simple card to put together.  Die-cuts, embellishments and ribbon do most of the work.

A Big Love You — Monday Montage #86

monday-montage-banner-october

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

I am still on my Valentine cards kick.  For this card, I made myself step away from the Sending Love suite (but I do have another one coming this week), and decided to just use some die-cuts.  I pulled out the Sunshine Wishes dies and the Sweet & Sassy Framelits dies, as well as some Sending Love dsp (so I guess I didn’t totally step away from this suite — baby steps).

gray-heartsI used a Basic Gray card base.  The “you” part of the sentiment was made with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.  This card came together pretty quickly.  The hardest part was deciding which sheets of dsp to use.

Bitty Love Note — FMS271

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our favorite Floridian, Cindy Hall, is our hostess.  Take a look at this fabulous, classic sketch that she has for us:

fms-final-271-001I decided to get a jump on Valentine’s Day cards.  That’s always a busy week in our house — two birthdays, kids’ Valentine parties at school, etc…  The Sending Love suite has so many sweet images/dies in it, that it was hard to decide what to include on this card because I wanted to play with them all.  In the end, I chose the adorable little envelope and notecard dies, the arrow die, and the striped heart die.

hello-bitty-love-noteI started with a piece of paper from the Sending Love DSP stack.  After embossing the sentiment with some Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, I added a strip of Silver Foil Sheets and attached them to the card base, tying some of the Real Red Sending Love Ribbon around it.

A Tower of Ice Cream — FMS270

It’s time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches already!  And this week our friend in the Rockies, Kim Singdahlsen, is our hostess.  Take a look at this great sketch that she has for us:

fms-final-270-001I was trying to select an image that is tall and skinny, and decided that a tower of ice cream scoops would be perfect.  Guess I have ice cream on the brain as I am trying to be a healthy eater and shed those holiday pounds since the new year started.  I guess if I can’t eat it, I can have fun stamping it.

cool-cone

The Cool Treats suite was right at the top of my list from the new Occasions catalog.  I love the fun fonts of the sentiments and I love ice cream.  I think this set will be fun for so many occasions.

I chose to make my towering cone with Peekaboo Peach, Pool Party, and Watermelon Wonder inks.  The vertical sentiment was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.

Another Year Full of Adventures — Monday Montage #85

monday-montage-banner-october

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

When I was making birthday cards recently, I was drawn to one of the stamps in the new Balloon Adventures stamp set.  It has a sentiment that I thought was particularly appropriate for the start of the new year.  I fully expect 2017 to be a year full of adventures, especially as our oldest child will be graduating from high school this Spring and leaving for college in the Fall.  No matter how much I try to make time slow down, it just keeps speeding by.

heres-to-another-yearI love balloons for birthdays, and this set has some really fun ones.  And they coordinate with the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  I love that too!

I used a festive color combo of Pacific Point, Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry, and Cucumber Crush.

heres-to-another-year-close-upI colored in part of the sentiment with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  Easy peasy!  The strips of dsp are from the Party Animal dsp collection and the In Color DSP stack.

A Good Egg — FMS269

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  I loved having all of our little chicks at home in the nest, but I must confess that I also felt pretty good dropping them off at school yesterday morning.  It’s good to get back in a routine (and not have to load/unload the dishwasher twice a day).  We’re back with another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our friend from the snowy Northeast, Linda Callahan, is our hostess.  She has a super versatile sketch for us that I think you’ll love:

fms-final-269-001

Since today is the first day of Sale-a-Bration (woohoo!!), I thought I should use some Sale-a-Bration products.  I’ve used two stamp sets for this card.  One will be obvious, but you may have to look closely for the second one.  Each Sale-a-Bration set is FREE with any $50 purchase.

a-good-egg

I’m not sure why, but I love the Hey, Chick stamp set.  All of the chickens are adorable and I love the sentiments.  I stamped the images on watercolor paper and colored with an aquapainter.

The other stamp set that I used is another Sale-a-Bration set called Delicate Details.  It has some fun border images, and I love how it is photopolymer and therefore easy to line everything up.  I stamped one of the borders on the strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock with Basic Black ink.

Project Life Joy — FMS268

Here we are with our last sketch for 2016 at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our resident Massachusettsan (yes — that’s really a word — I looked it up), Jen Mitchell, is our hostess with the Christmas spirit.  Her gift — a fabulous sketch that is versatile enough to be used for any season or occasion.

fms-final-268-001

While I had my Hello December 2016 Project Life collection out, I made another quick card (or 2 or 3).  I kinda felt like this was cheating for a sketch challenge because there is no actual stamping on this card, but time is at a premium this week, so anything quick and easy is good.

joy-for-plI added a piece of dsp from the Warmth & Cheer dsp stack and a bit of baker’s twine and silver metallic thread, as well as some staples.

I love making square cards, but never think to do them.  I’m so glad Jen made one for this sketch.

joy-for-pl-close-upQuick and easy, like this post.  🙂

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch and post it to the gallery. You have until January 2 to get it in, as we’re taking a little break for the holidays.  We love to see what you create!  Meanwhile, be sure to venture over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
