A Thanksgiving Place Setting — Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Welcome to another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 20 of us from around the globe who will be sharing our projects with you twice each month.  All you need to do to follow along is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

This is one of our “Open” hops, where we can use any of the products in our quarterly box. Now that Halloween is over, I am focused on Thanksgiving.  Of the 20 years I’ve been married, I’ve never hosted Thanksgiving or Christmas at our house.  We always either travel to my parents or my husband’s parents.  Well, this year Thanksgiving is at my house.  And I’m a little scared.  There will only be 12 of us, but I don’t have many of the serving pieces for a nice dinner.  One of the items I don’t have 12 of is napkin rings.  So here is what I’ll do instead.

placesettingI tucked a napkin and silverware into one of the Kraft Tag a Bag Gift Bags and decorated it with the Basket of Wishes stamp set.  The image was colored with a blender pen and ink pads.

placesetting-close-upI love this sentiment which is included with the stamp set.  It is phrased a little differently, but since I wanted to personalize the bags and use them as place cards as well, I selectively inked up the stamp to make the words work for me.  I just covered the words I didn’t want to stamp with washi tape and then inked up the stamp on the ink pad.  I then removed the washi tape before stamping directly on the bag.  Easy!

placesetting-longI hand wrote the names of all our guests on the labels, which were stamped with the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and punched out with the Classic Label punch.

A 90th Birthday — FMS261

We have a new sketch for you today over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week our sweet Floridian friend, Cindy Hall, has a great sketch for us.  Take a look:

fms-final-261-001I think you could do just about anything with this sketch, don’t you?  I knew I needed to make a birthday card for my grandmother, who will be celebrating her 90th birthday next week.  What a milestone!  My extended family is hosting a big party for her, but as she’s over 400 miles away from where I live, I won’t get to attend.  So I wanted to make a special card for her.

grandmas-90thI pulled out the Number of Years stamp set and coordinating dies for this one.  I used a color palette of Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze,  Peekaboo Peach, Old Olive, and Pool Party.   The textured dsp is from the Fancy Frost Specialty dsp pack.

grandmas-90th-close-upI had to laugh when my seventeen year-old son saw this card.  His reaction was one of concern — “Isn’t it a little rude to put someone’s age on her card, especially when she’s that old?”  I had to explain to him that it may not be politically correct, but when you reach 90, it’s something to be celebrated and recognized.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card for the sketch.  We love to see what you do with it as well.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for a big helping of inspiration.  You’ll love what you see!

Thanks from Bella — Monday Montage #81

monday-montage-banner-october

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

My daughter needed a quick thank you card and the recipient is a big dog lover, so I pulled my Bella & Friends set off the shelf and whipped up an easy card.

bella-thanksI used a strip of my favorite dsp, which comes from the Petals & Paisleys collection.  A strip of Silver Glimmer Paper and Rich Razzleberry ribbon were layered on top.

Some splatters from The Timeless Textures stamp set were added with Smoky Slate ink.

bella-thanks-close-upI was inspired by the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch.  Nothing like a good sketch to get your creative juices flowing when you’re in a hurry.

Sending Love & Hugs — FMS260

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and this week we have a fabulous sketch from our favorite Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen.  Take a look at this versatile sketch:

fms-final-260-001I needed to make a quick thank you card for some family members, who we rarely get to see.  My son is a senior this year and we took a 1300 mile road trip this past week to look at some colleges.  Along the way we got to stay with some family that we haven’t seen in years.  We had such a nice, though short, visit and I wanted to make them a thank you card and get it in the mail.

sending-loveI used the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and coordinating framelits set, the Sunshine Wishes Dies, to make this one.  The flower is cut from Calypso Coral cardstock and the “love” is from Dapper Denim cardstock.

I added some splatter from Gorgeous Grunge, stamped with Basic Black ink.  The dsp is from the Fruit Stand dsp pack.

sending-love-close-upThis was an easy one to put together.  The hardest part was deciding on the dsp.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

Thankful for Paisleys — Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Welcome to another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 20 of us from around the globe who will be sharing our projects with you twice each month.  All you need to do to follow along is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

For this post we were challenged to use one of three different product suites, and I decided to use the Petals & Paisleys suite.  I am a sucker for all things Fall, so I decided to use one of my favorite Fall-themed color combinations — Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Island Indigo Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Soft Suede.

grateful-for-paisleys-group

I started by making a card with this sentiment that I just love.  These three words sum up how I feel about this whole experience as an Artisan and getting to work with this team.  Truly Blessed and Grateful!

grateful-for-paisleys-cardThe Paisleys & Posies stamp set and coordinating dies, the Paisley Framelits Dies, can be purchased as a bundle, allowing you to save ten percent.  Love that!  I used them both for this card, as well as the Petals & Paisleys Specialty dsp.

grateful-for-paisleys-card-close-upI created a little gift sack as well using the Glassine Gift Bags.  It will be perfect to hold a pumpkin-chocolate chip bar when we make those a little later in the season.

grateful-for-paisleys-bagThe paisley images in this stamp set remind me of the popular adult coloring books.  I colored a bunch of these images with my Stampin’ Write Markers, and had so much fun doing it.  I love how these markers have a fine tip on one end and a brush tip on the other — makes it so easy to color big and small areas.

A Fall Leaf — FMS259

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week the ever clever and talented Linda Callahan is our hostess.  And she has a great sketch for us.  Take a look:

fms-final-259-001

Since it is supposedly Fall, I thought I should make a Fall-themed leaf card before I lose the opportunity.  So I pulled out my Vintage Leaves stamp set and embossed the large leaf with copper embossing powder.  I watercolored it with some Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler inks.

leafI made the background with the Timeless Textures stamp set, using Island Indigo and Crushed Curry.  The sentiment comes from part of a sentiment from the Basket of Wishes stamp set.

A Fall Birthday Bouquet — Monday Montage #80

monday-montage-banner-october

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

Stampin’ Up! offers some great stamps and dies with flowers and leaves.  Sometimes I have a hard time choosing which one to use.  For today’s card, I couldn’t decide so I ended up using two.  Why not?  Here’s a card that mainly uses Falling Flowers and includes a leaf from the Flourish Thinlits Dies.

fall-birthday-bouquetI wanted to make a Fall bouquet, so I used a color palette of Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, and Delightful Dijon.  The dsp is from the Petals & Paisleys pack.

The sentiment is from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  It would be correct to assume that my desk is a big mess now after pulling out so many different things to make this card.  It’s fun to mix and match though!

A Cute Mummy — FMS258

We’ve got another fabulous sketch for you over at Freshly Made Sketches today!  And this week, the wildly talented Rita Wright is our hostess and I love what she has for us.  Take a look:

fms-final-258-001

I seem to be in full Halloween mode right now, so I have a Halloween card for you.  I just love the adorable mummy in the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set!  So I decided to make him the star of this card.

halloween-mummyI paired him with some of the Halloween Night dsp and some Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper.  The sentiment was made with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

Jars of Halloween Treats — Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Welcome to another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!  There are 20 of us from around the globe who will be sharing our projects with you twice each month.  All you need to do to follow along is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

Our focus for this hop is the Jar of Haunts stamp set.  I love how it coordinates with the other jar stamp sets and the Everyday Jars Framelits dies that Stampin’ Up! offers.

I am not a very organized scrapbooker.  Some people like to do all of their pages chronologically or have different books for different themes/occasions.  I take more of a random/haphazard approach.  If I get a picture printed, I set it aside to be scrapped, and occasionally that gets done and stuck in a book.  I do try to insert the pages in chronological order in my scrapbooks, so I’m not totally unorganized.  🙂

halloween-scrapbookThis is a picture of my girls ready to head out for trick or treating.  I used some of the Halloween Night dsp and the Jar of Haunts stamp set to make the page, which is sized at 8″ x 8″.  I used the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to create the title and date.

halloween-scrapbook-close-upThese jars are so easy to “fill” with whatever you’d like.  That is one of the great features of the photopolymer stamps — easy placement.

I don’t tend to make many cards for Halloween, but I love to make treats for the occasion. The girls give them to friends and teachers.

halloween-treat-bagI love the Glassine Gift Bags because they are the perfect size for a cookie or other homemade treat.  I put a Halloween decorated sugar cookie in this bag, decorated with a sleeve made from the Halloween Night dsp.  The sleeve measures 2″ x 12″, and then I folded it in half, punched a couple of holes at the top and tied the bow.

The cute pumpkins were made with the Jar of Haunts stamp set.  Lots of different images in this set — some cute and some scary!

halloween-treat-bag-close-upThe pumpkins were stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock and colored with an aquapainter and blender pen.

A Big Birthday Cone — FMS257

We’re ready with another sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week the fabulous Jen Mitchell is our hostess.  Take a look at what she has for us:

fms-final-257-001I love this sketch!   You can use so many different images with this.  I ended up keeping my card very true to the sketch and made a birthday card because I never seem to have enough of those.

Rather than feature a birthday cake, I decided to make a birthday ice cream card.   I do love cake, but ice cream would be my preferred birthday treat.  I chose to make a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone for this card.  I can never decide which is my favorite flavor — chocolate, chocolate chip cookie dough, strawberry… I always have the hardest time deciding which flavor to get at the store.  This isn’t helped by the fact that all three of my children have different favorites too.  What is your favorite flavor?

big-birthday-coneI used the Biggest Birthday Ever stamp set and coordinating Wish Big Framelits dies.  The color scheme is Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake, and Early Espresso.

The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

big-birthday-cone-close-upThis was a quick and easy card to make.  The hardest part was choosing the flavor!  🙂

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  We love to see what you create.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.
