Star of Light — Monday Montage #79

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop! We are a group of ten stampers who love to share what we create with you, and all you have to do to follow along is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

I added another quick and easy Christmas card to my stash this weekend. I think I may have to make a few more of this one if (who am I kidding — when) I run out of time in December. I used the Star of Light stamp set and coordinating thinlits to make it.

I stamped the starry swirl with Dapper Denim ink on some Whisper White card stock. I love this image! The detail is so beautiful.

The star was cut with some Silver Foil card stock and Silver Glimmer Paper. Super quick! Some silver sequins and metallic thread finished it off.

Joyful Christmas — FMS256

We have another sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today, and this week our super talented pilot friend, Jennifer Timko, is our hostess. Take a look at the great sketch she has for us:

I thought this sketch was perfect to showcase a beautiful, large sentiment. There are two that I love in the Wonderful Year stamp set, so I chose to use one of those for this card. I kept this card very simple and very true to the awesome sketch.

I used my Real Red, Garden Green, and Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the stamp. Some sprigs of greenery were added by using one of the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.

The base layer is a sheet of Candy Cane Lane dsp.

The Only Kind of Cute Mouse — FMS255

We take turns being the hostess over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week I have the privilege of creating and sharing the sketch for the week. This is what I came up with:

Whenever we go to the pet supply store, my daughters always love to look at the mice, hamsters, and guinea pigs. I have heard so many pleas to buy one for a pet, but I have never given in. I love our dog. I could love a cat (my son is allergic). But a rodent? No way!! They give me the heebie-jeebies! My daughters think they are cute, but in my book the only kind of cute mouse is the animated mouse (like in “Cinderella”) or the cute mice in the Merry Mice stamp set.

This cute little critter was stamped on some Shimmery White card stock and colored with a blender pen and some ink pads — Sweet Sugarplum, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, and Smoky Slate. A little clear Wink of Stella was added on the nose, ornament, and star.

Hooray for Birthdays — Monday Montage #78

One of the things I love most about the Irresistibly Floral dsp is that you can add any color you like to it. I wanted to make a bright and happy birthday card, so I made one with a fun color combination of Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo. It was easy to sponge on a little Daffodil Delight ink to the dsp.

I used the stamp set Confetti Celebration for the focal image. A little black Metallic Thread was looped underneath and some Melon Mambo Brights Enamel Shapes were placed around the card.

Moroccan Banners — Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Welcome to another Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! There are 20 of us from around the globe who will be sharing our projects with you twice each month. All you need to do to follow along is click on the link at the bottom of each post.

Our focus for this month is the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and the Duet Banner Punch. This stamp set and punch are must-haves, as they work with just about every style and cover just about every occasion.

I paired up the Moroccan Nights stamp set and Moroccan dsp with the Banners suite. I started by making a card and then made a little treat box to coordinate with it.

I have used this Moroccan Nights set quite a bit, and I love the large medallion in it. I stamped it twice — once on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and once on a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock, which I punched out with the 2″ circle punch.

I stamped the banner from Thoughtful Banners with Dapper Denim ink and the sentiment with More Mustard ink, and then punched it out with the Duet Banner Punch. I love how quick and easy it is!

Some splatters from the Touches of Texture stamp set were stamped on the bottom layer, over some of the small medallions from Moroccan Nights. A piece of dsp was layered over it, and some embellishments were added to finish it off.

Using the Baker’s Box Thinlits die, I made a little coordinating treat box. The Thoughtful Banners stamp set also contains an outline image for the Classic Label Punch. There are fun little accent stamps you can add to the banners (see the Crushed Curry lines on the banners below). This makes it really easy to customize your banners, not only with the sentiments you choose but also with colored accents. So fun!

Basket of Fall Wishes — FMS254

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches! And this week our talented friend from Australia, Narelle Farrugia, is our hostess. Check out the great sketch she has for us:

I recently acquired a new set that I was eager to ink up and color. It’s the Basket of Wishes set in the Holiday Catalog. It’s a fun set because there are three different baskets and four different arrangements that you can place in the baskets. If I could remember anything from my college statistics class, I could tell you just how many different baskets you could make. It’s a lot!

I totally stayed true to the sketch this week! Shocking! I stamped the image with Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I colored it with a blender pen and my ink pads — Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Delightful Dijon, Rich Razzleberry, and a little Smoky Slate for outline shadowing. This one is easy to color and fun!

I used some of the Fancy Frost Specialty dsp, which has beautifully textured designs and has some patterns that don’t have to be used just for Christmas-themed cards. I very lightly sponged some Crumb Cake ink onto the raised dots to add a tiny bit of contrast.

A strip of Petals & Paisleys Specialty dsp and a strip of a Copper Foil Sheet were used as well. The sentiment is from a stamp in the Paisleys & Posies set.

Happy Fall Scarecrow — FMS253

These holiday weeks always mess me up. So even though it doesn’t feel like a Wednesday after our U.S. holiday on Monday, it is and that means it’s time for another new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site. And this week, our fearless Canadian friend, Jen Brum, is our hostess. I had to point out that she’s fearless because she has included an element on her sketch that used to send her into a panic. A circle!! Either Jen has overcome her phobia or else she has decided to face her fear and conquer it. I am proud of her!

One of my very favorite sets in the new Holiday Catalog is the Cookie Cutter Halloween set. As if this set isn’t awesome enough solely based on its cute images, there is also a coordinating punch that goes with it. And to make it even better, there is a Christmas themed set called (you guessed it) Cookie Cutter Christmas. I love it when there are multiple sets that coordinate with a punch!

I started this one by pulling out a favorite embossing folder from last year, Woodland. I then made my square background with a piece of Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP. I love houndstooth patterns, and this pack has two different colors.

I really wanted to us a Fall-themed sentiment, but couldn’t find one in my sets. So I just made one using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

Some fun accents — Copper Metallic Thread, Rich Razzleberry ribbon, an In-color doily and Brights Enamel Shapes were added as finishing touches.

Scenic Collage — Monday Montage #77

Sometimes you need a card with a simple sentiment to send to a friend who lives far away if you just want to let her to know you’ve been thinking about her. I love the sentiments in the Scenic Sayings set, and knew that one of them would be perfect for a friend who has been on my mind.

I started by running a piece of Kraft cardstock through the Big Shot with the Sparkle embossing folder. I die cut a couple of greenery stems from the May Flowers Framelits dies from Dapper Denim cardstock. A circle from Fruit Stand dsp was cut with a Layering Circles Framelit die.

Some of the absolutely fabulous gold baker’s twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack, which is one of the offerings in the new Holiday Catalog was layered under some 3/8″ Mint Macaron ribbon.

This was a quick card to assemble and it has so many fun elements which I love.

Summer Flourishes — Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

This is one of our “Open” hops, where we can use any of the products in our quarterly box. I decided to pull out Flourishing Phrases and make a bright, happy card that has a Summery feel. Summer is often considered to be over with the Labor Day holiday here in the U.S., and I guess this is my last attempt to hold on to it for a little longer. Of course, here in Texas it will still feel like Summer for a couple of months most likely.

I started by die-cutting a bunch of leaves and flowers with the Flourish Thinlits Dies. I used Cucumber Crush, Emerald Envy, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight for my color palette.

I added some White Perfect Accents on the flowers and some gold Metallic Enamel Shapes (these will be included in the weekly specials at 25% off Sept 1-7, so stock up!).
