Felt Flowers

One of the things that I love most about Spring is the beautiful flowers and the arrival of color into the landscape again.  I decided to pull out my Flower Patch stamp set and coordinating Flower Fair Framelits Dies.    I also pulled out my Flower Frenzy Bigz Die because I love the leaf branch in it.  I decided to use some pretty green felt with it.

Felt and FlowersI’ve been thinking about how three of my favorite colors will soon be retiring, and it makes me quite sad.  I’ve used two of them on this card — Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe.  I am really going to miss them, so I will probably be using them a lot before June gets here and I have to say farewell.

Felt and Flowes Close UpI paired a Project Life Grid Card with some Stacked with Love dsp for this card,  The sentiment is from Hi There.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Coral Blooms

I have never played along with any of the challenges at The Card Concept, and I’ve liked so many of them.  I finally got to join in this week, and I love the colors in the inspiration photo.

Calypso Coral and Pool Party are two of my favorite colors with which to work.  I have to stop myself from using them all of the time.

I pulled out Bloom with Hope, a hostess set, for my card as the flowers in this set resemble those in the inspiration picture.  Plus, I have barely used this set before, so it needed some ink.

I’d say that this card would fit in with the Clean and Layered style.  However, I think it could also be called a Freestyle Collage style.

Coral BloomsI started by selectively inking the Positively Chevron background stamp with some Versamark ink, and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I punched out a couple of circles from dsp.  I watercolored the focal image with an aquapainter,

Birthday Balloons Celebration — FMS181

Here we go — another Wednesday is upon us already.  And that means it’s time for another challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week, the super stamper, Jen Mitchell, is our hostess, and she has a fun sketch for us.

I needed to add to my birthday card stash, so I pulled out Celebrate Today and paired it with some Birthday Bash Specialty dsp.

Celebrate with BalloonsI have the hardest time taking pictures of cards that have a tilted panel.  So please forgive my crooked picture.

I used a color scheme of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush and Bermuda Bay.  Bright, cheery colors.

Celebrate with Balloons Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  It’s always fun to see what you make.  Meanwhile, you should jump over to the Freshly Made Sketches site and see what the design team made for some inspiration.

Have a great Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Easter Jellybeans Treats

I made some little treats for my kids and put them in their lunches for school yesterday.  I kept them really simple, as I know that though they may appreciate the packaging, it’s what’s inside that they really care about.

Easter JellybeansI stamped the cute eggs with a stamp from the For Peep’s Sake set and colored it with my Stampin’ Write Markers before stamping.  It is stamped on some Whisper White card stock cut with a die from the Label Collection framelits dies.  I folded a doily in half and placed that under it.  I just picked colors that matched the jellybeans. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Easter Jellybeans close upSince I didn’t think my 16 year-old son would necessarily appreciate the doily, I left it off of his.

I hope you have a wonderful Easter with your loved ones.  I always love the Easter service at church, and my youngest still likes to hunt for Easter eggs.  Even though it is supposed to rain here on Sunday, I know it will be a special day.

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Fern Wishes — FMS180

It’s time for another sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. And this week the super talented Jennifer Timko is our hostess. Here is what she has for us:

This sketch had me stumped for a while.  In fact, this is my third card with this sketch. The other two ended up in the wastebasket.  But it’s good to have a challenge once in a while.

I immediately thought of using a doily for the semi-circle, but had no clue what to do with the rest of the card.  I have barely used my Butterfly Basics stamp set, so I decided to get it out and play with it.

Fern WishesI stamped the fern with Calypso Coral ink and embossed the sentiment with Pool Party embossing powder.  I added a little washi tape and a strip of dsp.

Fern Wishes Close UpThe design team didn’t appear to have any difficulties with this sketch, so you should go by the Freshly Made Sketches site and see what they’ve made this week.  And then we hope you’ll make your own card and share it in the gallery with us.  We love to see what you make!

Have a great Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

The Moon and the Stars

I happened to stumble across a new-to-me challenge blog, Clean & Simple Stamping, and I loved the sketch they had last week so I decided to play along.

I hadn’t used my Pictogram Punches stamp set in a while, and I love the images in this set so I pulled it out.

Moon and StarsI went with a color combination of Hello Honey, So Saffron, Soft Sky, and Tempting Turquoise.

Moon and Stars Close UpI think I’ll give this card to my daughter who just performed in a choir concert at school.  Singing in front of people is not something I would ever like to do, so I am proud of her for having the courage to do it.

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Vivid Springtime Vases — FMS179

Happy Wednesday!  And Wednesdays bring new challenges at Freshly Made Sketches each week.  This go around, I get the pleasure of being the hostess and I have a pretty simple and clean sketch for you to try.

Since the sketch is pretty simple, I wanted to keep my card clean and simple.  I pulled out my Vivid Vases stamp and watercolored it with an aquapainter.  I used a card base of Soft Sky card stock which was embossed with the Polka Dot embossing folder.

Vivid Springtime Vases

I used a little strip of dsp from the Stacked with Love stack, and added a button.  I rounded two of the corners, and made myself stop.

VIvid Springtime Vases Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and create your own card.  We’d love to see what you do with the sketch.  Meanwhile, you can go by the Freshly Made Sketches site and see what the design team made for some inspiration.  You won’t be disappointed.

Yippee Skippee Stars

I love the sketch this week over at CAS(E) this Sketch, so I really wanted to play along and I made a card just for fun.

I still have some of the Sale-a-Bration dsp that I need to use up, and I love the pretty pinkish patterned sheet in the Best Year Ever package.  So that is what I pulled out to start my card.

Yippee Skippee StarsI added a Silver Glimmer Paper star cut out with one of the Stars Framelits Dies and some Calypso Coral stars punched out with the star punch in the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  I also punched out some circles — one from vellum card stock and one from the Typeset dsp.  I looped some white sewing thread in a crazy pattern, and added some rhinestones and sequins.  The sentiment is from the Yippee-Skippee! stamp set.

Birthday Rock Stars — Monday Montage #40

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberIt’s time for another Monday Montage Blog Hop, and this week is our 40th hop.  Wow!  I love working with these fun and talented ladies.  To follow along and see the creations of the other stampers, all you need to do is click on the links at the bottom of each post.

Birthday Rock StarsI needed to make a birthday card for one of my teenagers to give to a friend.  I always find those so hard to make.  I pulled out a stamp set that I have loved, #hello, for this card as I think the images are good for this age group.

I used some of the Irresistibly Yours dsp, and took my aquapainter and colored on some Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango ink to highlight some of the stars around the focal image.  The “@” is stamped with Coastal Cabana ink.

Birthday Rock Stars Close UpI used some white sewing thread to loop behind the focal image and added a strip of die cut stars from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies set.  The sentiment is embossed with white Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black card stock.  I scattered some black candy dots, and decided that was enough.

You’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog for some truly creative inspiration.  If you prefer to work your way backwards, you can venture over to Wendy Weixler’s blog to see her amazing work.  Either way, be sure to work you way through all ten blog posts.

Hippity Hoppity — FMS178

It’s Wednesday, and with each Wednesday comes a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our fabulous friend from the land down under, Narelle Farrugia, is our hostess and she has a versatile sketch for us that I love.

Since Easter is right around the corner, I decided I’d better ink up my Easter stamps.  This is from a cute little set called For Peeps’ Sake.  The sentiment is from And Many More.  I added a piece of Best Day Ever dsp, which is a Sale-a-Bration offering.

I think these little chicks are adorable.  I used my Stampin’ Write markers directly on the stamp to color the image.
