Eclectic DoilyHere’s a collage-style card using the Kinda Eclectic stamp set, which I love so much!  I piled on lots of things I love on this card –  thick baker’s twine, new crochet trim, doilies, Typeset dsp, etc…  I love how the sun image fits so nicely on the doily.

Eclectic Doily Close UpThe sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts.  The colors used are Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pear Pizzazz, and Pool Party.

An Amazing Golden Birthday

AB with GoldHere’s a birthday card with some fun, gold accents today.  I used the new Amazing Birthday stamp set and the Moonlight dsp stack.

AB with Gold Close UpI love the gold sequin trim, but I must say that my camera doesn’t feel the same about it.  It is always so hard for me to get good pictures of any projects when I use that stuff.  If you have any tips, please let me know!

Enjoy your Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Big and Little Blooms — FMS141

Woohoo!  It’s Wednesday!  And Wednesdays bring new sketches at Freshly Made Sketches.  And the always creative Cindy Hall has a fabulous and challenging one for us.  I guess that’s why it’s called a sketch “challenge”, right?

This sketch had me stumped for a while.  I decided it would be a great sketch to show off some pretty dsp, so I looked through my stash, and decided I needed to cut into a sheet that I love from the Flowerpot package.  And since it has flowers all over it, I decided to make a big flower using the Flower Patch stamps.

Blooming SquareMy son walked by while I was photographing this and said that he thought “blooming” is used as a bad word in England.  I’m not sure how he would know that, but if it is, I apologize to those of you across the pond!  It’s not meant that way here.

Blooming Square Close UpI used the coordinating Flower Flair Framelits dies to cut out the flowers.  They sure do make it easier!

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card with the sketch!  Jump on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the other designers made with it for some inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Darling

So do any of you break out into song when you see the title of the Hello Darling stamp set. That old Conway Twitty song just pops into my head…every…single…time.

Well, I bought this stamp set because I do love the stamped images.  But one in particular stood out to me, and was really the main reason why I bought the set — the scattered sequins image.  I had visions of embossed sequins in all sorts of colors!  So that’s what I had to use for the first card I made with this set.

Hello DarlingThe color scheme that I used for this card is Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Blushing Bride, Coastal Cabana, and Early Espresso.  The dsp is from the All Abloom dsp stack.

Hello Darling Close UpI love the little bit of shine that the embossing adds to the sequins image.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Pictogram Vase

Pictogram VaseHere’s a pretty simple one for you today.  I am really enjoying the new Pictogram Punches stamp set.  I love how it coordinates with the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, and how it makes creating clean and simple cards so quick and easy.

I started by stamping the vase and leaves image with Pear Pizzazz ink on the tag.  I then stamped the same image again with Coastal Cabana ink on some other white card stock and cut just the vase out so I could paper piece that part.  I could have used my markers to color the leaves one color and the vase another, but sometimes it’s just as easy to paper piece, especially when the image isn’t hard to cut out, like the vase.

The flowers were stamped with Real Red ink and Hello Honey ink and punched out.

Pictogram Vase Close UpThe sentiment is from the Something to Say stamp set, and the fun stamped border is from Boutique Borders.   The dsp is from the Lullaby dsp pack.

An Eclectic Collage — FMS140

It’s Wednesday again!  And the super fun and wildly talented Linda Callahan has a fabulous sketch for us over at Freshly Made Sketches:

One of the stamp sets that I used to make convention display samples was Kinda Eclectic.  I made eight projects with it, and even after finishing all of them I still didn’t want to put this set away.  So I decided to use it for this sketch.  I ended up taking some major creative liberties with the sketch, but I hope it still looks true to the sketch.

FMS EclecticThis is one of those stamp sets in which I truly love every single stamp.  And I love how easy it is to combine all of the images.

I used a color combination of Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, and Tangelo Twist.  The sentiment is from Lots of Thanks.

FMS Eclectic Close UpOne way I know I’m getting old is that my eyesight isn’t what it used to be.  It took me about three projects before I realized that there was writing on the polka dot strips.  So there is a right way and an upside down way to stamp this image.  Be warned!

Next month, after convention, I can share the other eight projects I made with this set.  However, I’m sure I’ll be using it again before then.

Be sure to go by the Freshly Made Sketches site and check out what the rest of the team made with the sketch.  And then play along with us and post your own card to the gallery.  We love seeing what you make!

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Father’s Day, Paper Pumpkin Style

With Father’s Day right around the corner, I decided I’d better get busy and make a Father’s Day card (or two).  I decided to use some of the elements from last month’s My Paper Pumpkin kit.

Pumpkin Father's Day

The cute banners are all from the kit, as is the sentiment stamp.  The stars were stamped with the new Be the Star stamp set and cut out with the new Stars Framelits Dies.  I am so excited to finally have these framelits!  The small Tangelo Twist stars were punched out with one of the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack punches.

Flower Patch Double Duty — Monday Montage #21

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberHere we go again!  Another Monday Montage Blog Hop for you.  There are ten of us participating, so just follow the links at the bottom of each post to work your way through all ten posts.

I got a box of new Stampin Up! goodies last week and finally had a chance to sit down and play with the new stuff last night.  It’s always a bit overwhelming to look at a pile of new products and know where to start.  So I decided to start with the stamp set that was at the top of my wish list — Flower Patch.   And to make this set even better, there are coordinating framelits!

Flower Patch Hop 2I pulled out a sheet of dsp from the All Abloom dsp stack, and used Strawberry Slush, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Delight ink for the flowers.  The leaves use Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive.

Flower Patch Hop 2 Close UpI stamped off onto scratch paper first to get the lighter base shades on a couple of the flowers.  Cutting everything out with framelits is such a time saver.  On this first card, I kept the flowers pretty simple — basically just one layer.

While I had all of the ink pads and other supplies out, I decided to make one more card with the same color scheme and add more layers on the flowers.

Flower Patch HopI added a couple of colors on this one — Blackberry Bliss and Crisp Cantaloupe.  I used some of the new Pumpkin Pie 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon on both of these cards– love it!

Flower Patch Hop Close UpThis is such a fun set because the layering opportunities are endless!  I think the one layer flowers are just as gorgeous as the multi-layered ones.

Well, you’re ready to continue along the hop trail.  You can venture onward to the always inspiring Breelin Renwick’s blog by clicking the “Next” button below, or you can work your way backwards and go visit the ever creative Wendy Weixler’s blog by clicking on the “Back” button.  Either way, be sure to work your way through all ten blogs.

You’re a Star

You're a StarI recently got my box of new catalog goodies, but I haven’t had time to play with them.  How frustrating is that?!?  Well, I carved out a half an hour to play with a new set called Pictogram Punches and the new Hearts and Stars Decorative Masks (what I would call stencils).

I really can’t wait to play with these decorative masks more.  I am itching to get out some modeling past and gesso and try some different techniques with them.  For this card, I just used a sponge dauber to apple some Whisper White Craft ink over the stencil.

One other new love I have discovered is this new 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon.  I am going to have to get more (all) colors of it.  It ties so beautifully and it is so pretty.

You're a Star Close UpI hope you have a great weekend.  My two oldest left for camp bright and early this morning.  I have some projects that I need to finish up this weekend, and then I’m looking forward to some one-on-one time with my youngest.  That will be a treat.  Thanks for stopping by!

2 Great People, 1 Little Card

2 great peopleI don’t know what it is about these little wooden people that came in a My Paper Pumpkin kit last December, but I have this strong affinity for them.  And subscribers can even order refill kits and get extra little wooden people (here’s a link).  I’m in!

When I saw this cute sentiment stamp from the new Something To Say set, I immediately thought of this wooden couple.  I needed a wedding card to enclose with a gift, so I made this little card.  The card is only 2-1/2″ x 4″, and I will probably end up punching a hole in it in the top left-hand corner and tie some pretty ribbon on it to attach it to the wedding gift.

I used the scalloped heart in the Hearts a Flutter framelits to cut out a Very Vanilla heart, which I then colored with Crisp Cantaloupe ink using a sponge dauber.  I like the soft look that gave it.  I pierced a smaller heart with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack.  The smaller, Very Vanilla heart was also cut out with a die from the same framelits pack.  The Island Indigo row of hearts was created by just punching out the hearts with the heart punch in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

2 great people close upOne of the cool things about this sentiment set is that there are stamps for the inside of your cards.  Here’s a look at the inside for this “2 Great People” stamp:

2 great people inside

I haven’t played along with The Paper Players in a while, so I was excited to see they have a wedding-themed challenge this week.  It was just what I needed to make myself sit down and get this card made.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!
