Amazing Subway

You're Amazing Subway StyleI pulled out an old favorite stamp set today, You’re Amazing.  It’s been a while since I’ve used it and I love this set.  At this time of year I start feeling a little sentimental.  Stampin’ Up! will release its retiring list next week, and those stamps on the list will never be available again.  Now I don’t know what sets will be on it yet, but those sets that have been around for a while and I don’t see getting used much anymore always make me a little anxious.  This is one that I hope isn’t on the list.  I may not use it much anymore, but I still love it.

I used my markers (Island Indigo, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Summer Starfruit) to color the stamp.  I then cut it out with one of the Apothecary Accents dies.  Since I didn’t quite allow enough room on one side of the sentiment for the die when I stamped it, I cut off a little bit on one of the sides.  So I took my paper snips and rounded it out a bit and did the same on the other side.  I like the look it gave it!  I then sponged a little Crumb Cake ink on the edges.

you're amazing subway style close upI used some of the dsp patterns from the Soho Subway package.  I added some Linen Thread and Island Indigo Baker’s Twine to make a bow, and then placed one of the Crisp Cantaloupe Boutique Details and some Crisp Cantaloupe ruffled ribbon on top.  I just love that color, don’t you?

The Easter Bunny — FMS132

Easter is almost here (finally — it seems so late this year) and we have another great sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  While the two (Easter and the sketch) don’t necessarily go together, I chose to make an Easter card with the sketch.  Jen Brum is our talented hostess this week.  She has such a gift for CAS cards and has made a fabulous sketch for us this week.

I pulled out my Life in the Forest stamp set, which has not seen much ink.  It has a cute little bunny in it so I thought it would be perfect for an Easter card.

Easter BunnyI die cut the film strip from a Silver Foil Sheet using the On Film Framelits dies.  All of the dsp is from the Watercolor Wonder dsp pack.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I have a big ball of crochet thread, and I cut off a long string and just randomly looped it around and placed the focal image over it.  My daughter thinks it looks messy, but I think it’s kinda fun.

Easter Bunny Close UpWe hope you’ll join us and make your own card for the challenge.  If you do, please link it up in the gallery so we can see what you’ve made.  We always enjoy looking through the gallery.  You can check out what the rest of the design team made at the Freshly Made Sketches site.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hey There Speech Bubble

Hey There Speech BubbleThe speech bubbles in the Just Sayin’ stamp set are so fun.  And they have coordinating framelits, which is even more fun!  I used a color combination of Pacific Point, Gumball Green, Pumpkin Pie, and So Saffron.  Bright and cheery!

Hey There Speech Bubble Close UpI added some fun gold accents — the Gold Sequin Trim, Gold Baker’s Twine, and a Gold Mini Metallic Clothespin.  I also added a strip of the Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon.

Gold Dahlia — Monday Montage #17

Monday Montage Banner -- OctoberWelcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  We have ten fabulous posts for you to view, and all you have to do is click on the arrows at the bottom of each post to work your way through the hop.

I have a simple card for you today.  I love the Regarding Dahlias stamp set!  I stamped and embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder three times, and then used my paper snips to cut out three different layers.  I popped each layer up with dimensionals.

Gold Dahlia

I added some Gold Baker’s Twine and Gold Sequin Trim around the sentiment.  All of the elements are placed on some Strawberry Slush DSP stack paper and a Gold Foil Sheet.  I love the Strawberry Slush paired with gold.

Oh, Happy Day!

I love the Starburst Sayings stamp set.  But I have to say that I always break out into song(s) when I use this set.  I shared before how the “Hello, my name is” stamp in this set makes me start singing a song by Matthew West with that title (you can read about that in this post).  The stamp I used today makes me start singing the song, “Oh, Happy Day,” by Tim Hughes.  You can hear that song here.  So catchy!  And so happy!  There’s even another stamp in this set, “Celebrate,” that makes me want to sing another song, but I’ll save that for another day.  🙂

Oh, Happy DayI wanted to use up some leftover My Paper Pumpkin supplies from last month’s kit.  That’s where the gold glittered dots and the watercolored card stock came from.  I used the Chevron Border punch on the watercolored card stock, popped that layer up with dimensionals, and put a layer of the Gold Foil Sheets underneath.  I also added a little bit of Cherry Cobbler card stock underneath one of the chevrons.

Oh, Happy Day Close UpI attached a little strip of Cherry Cobbler dsp with one of the cute Mini Metallic Clothespins and added some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.  After adding the focal image/sentiment, I made myself stop.

Well, I’ll be working on our taxes today.  Yuck!  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.  Hopefully your Saturday will be more fun.  Thanks for stopping by!

A Pink Baby Elephant

Girly Baby ElephantI adore the little elephant in the Zoo Babies stamp set!  I don’t know why, but in my mind that little cutie has always been a boy.  So today, I decided that I needed to make the elephant a female baby elephant.  And I think she looks adorable in pink.  🙂

I used some of my Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape and a little strip of Blushing Bride dsp to add a little color.  And I stamped the Alpha wheel with Calypso Coral ink on the card base.  I really need to remember to use my wheels more.  I have some that I really love.

The scallop circle comes from the Perfect Pennants Bigz Die.  I love how it works with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch.

Mosaics Everywhere — FMS131

Happy Wednesday!  And Wednesdays mean it’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our hostess is the fabulous Cindy Hall, who always adds amazing details on her beautiful cards.  She is one gifted card maker, I tell you.

I struggled for a little bit in figuring out what to put in that long focal panel.  But as I was looking through my stamp sets, the Mosaic Madness set jumped out at me.  I haven’t used it in a while and it is such a fun set.  So I went all out with the mosaics — stamps, punch, dsp, embossing folder…

A Mosaic HelloI even used some of the cool mosaic window sheet paper.  I love how the Modern Mosaic embossing folder coordinates so well with the Mosaic punch and the stamp set.

The two little white flowers with the black candy dots centers were made using a punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, which is one of the weekly deals this week.  I also used the sentiment from the Four You set.  It is embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

We hope you’ll make your own card using the sketch above and then share it in the gallery. You can hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site and view the other designers creations for some inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hey There Tag

Hey There Tag

I decided to play around with some Gesso again today.   I used some Daffodil Delight ink with the Positively Chevron background stamp.  To tone it down a bit, I took a paint brush and applied a thin layer of Gesso over it, covering some areas a little more than others.  Not only does it tone down the bright color, but it also adds some cool texture.

Then I made the tag using some leftover card stock from the fabulous Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit.  The Melon Mambo flower is from the Petite Petals stamp set, punched out with the coordinating punch.  The sentiment was embossed and is from a My Paper Pumpkin kit.  I love the fonts used on this sentiment.  The Island Indigo flowers are punched using the Boho Blossoms punch.  I also used the Little Leaves Sizzlits die for the leaves again.

Butterflies and Newsprint

The Card Concept has a fun butterfly theme challenge this go-around, and since I love butterflies, I had to play along.  I went with a Clean and Layering style this time.

I love the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die, so I pulled it out and paired it with some pretty Spring-like dsp, Afternoon Picnic.  I love the colors in this dsp.

Hardwood ButterflyI started by using clear embossing powder with the Hardwood background stamp on Very Vanilla card stock.  I then cut two banners using the Banners Framelits dies — one with the dsp and the other with vellum card stock.  Using Pewter embossing powder, I embossed the sentiment from Express Yourself.

Hardwood Butterfly Close Up

I die cut two of the butterflies and added some little flowers for the center using the Boho Blossoms punch and the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Enjoy your Saturday!  We’re taking the kids to the movies today and I’ve been sewing some draperies for our master bedroom and our newly remodeled bathroom.  I’m not much of a seamstress, so it takes me a while to make simple ones.  I haven’t had to rip out any mistakes yet, so I’m hoping I can finish them up today.  Thanks for stopping by!

A Summer Silhouettes Collage

I pulled out my Summer Silhouettes stamp set and decided to just make something for fun.

Summer Silhouettes Collage

I started by spritzing a white card base with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Strawberry Slush re-inker.  Then I stamped the mosaic strip with Basic Gray ink and added some Delicate Details Lace Tape (it’s kinda hard to see in the pictures).  I then added some In Color dsp and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum strips.

I stamped the floral images with Summer Starfruit, Strawberry Slush, and Coastal Cabana ink and then cut them out with my trusty paper snips.  I embossed the sentiment from Four You with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder.

I added some sequin trim and pearls and then forced myself to stop.  That’s the hardest part!

Enjoy your Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!
