Sugarplum Star of Peace — FMS265

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week our friend from the land down under, Narelle Farrugia,  is our hostess.  Take a look at her fun sketch:

fms-final-265-001Since I’m woefully behind on Christmas cards, I decided to go that route.  I pulled out my Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set, fully intending to place the large snowflake image over a sponged circle.  But it all looked so plain.  I decided a die-cut image was needed, so I pulled out the Starlight Thinlits Dies.

star-of-peace

I started by sponging some Sweet Sugarplum ink on a mask created with a circle die and a scrap piece of cardstock.  With the mask still on, I stamped the stars and dots background with the same ink.

I die cut the star from a Silver Foil Sheet and the sentiment from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

A Jolly Moose — FMS264

It’s good to be back with my friends over at the Freshly Made Sketches site this week.  I’ve been off for a couple of weeks as I had some surgery (Everything is ok now), but I’m ready to jump back into it.  And what a great week to be back!  Look at what our favorite New Zealander, Karren Johnson, has for us:fms-final-264-001I haven’t been able to play with the Jolly Friends set very much and I thought it would work great with this sketch.  The characters in this set are adorable, and I love how you can customize their looks with the accessories included in the set.

jolly-mooseThe moose was stamped onto some kraft cardstock and cut out by hand.  I punched his hat out with the coordinating Jolly Hat Builder Punch.  Very quick and easy!

I used one of the new Stitched Shapes Framelits dies for the circle behind the moose.  A die from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies collection was used to cut out the sentiment from some Cherry Cobbler Glimmer Paper.  The remainder of the sentiment is from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, to all of my American friends!  Thanks for stopping by!

A 90th Birthday — FMS261

We have a new sketch for you today over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week our sweet Floridian friend, Cindy Hall, has a great sketch for us.  Take a look:

fms-final-261-001I think you could do just about anything with this sketch, don’t you?  I knew I needed to make a birthday card for my grandmother, who will be celebrating her 90th birthday next week.  What a milestone!  My extended family is hosting a big party for her, but as she’s over 400 miles away from where I live, I won’t get to attend.  So I wanted to make a special card for her.

grandmas-90thI pulled out the Number of Years stamp set and coordinating dies for this one.  I used a color palette of Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze,  Peekaboo Peach, Old Olive, and Pool Party.   The textured dsp is from the Fancy Frost Specialty dsp pack.

grandmas-90th-close-upI had to laugh when my seventeen year-old son saw this card.  His reaction was one of concern — “Isn’t it a little rude to put someone’s age on her card, especially when she’s that old?”  I had to explain to him that it may not be politically correct, but when you reach 90, it’s something to be celebrated and recognized.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card for the sketch.  We love to see what you do with it as well.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for a big helping of inspiration.  You’ll love what you see!

Enjoy your Wednesday!   Thanks for stopping by!

Sending Love & Hugs — FMS260

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and this week we have a fabulous sketch from our favorite Coloradan, Kim Singdahlsen.  Take a look at this versatile sketch:

fms-final-260-001I needed to make a quick thank you card for some family members, who we rarely get to see.  My son is a senior this year and we took a 1300 mile road trip this past week to look at some colleges.  Along the way we got to stay with some family that we haven’t seen in years.  We had such a nice, though short, visit and I wanted to make them a thank you card and get it in the mail.

sending-loveI used the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and coordinating framelits set, the Sunshine Wishes Dies, to make this one.  The flower is cut from Calypso Coral cardstock and the “love” is from Dapper Denim cardstock.

I added some splatter from Gorgeous Grunge, stamped with Basic Black ink.  The dsp is from the Fruit Stand dsp pack.

sending-love-close-upThis was an easy one to put together.  The hardest part was deciding on the dsp.

We hope you’ll join us and make your own card using the sketch.  Meanwhile, be sure to hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has made for your inspiration.

A Fall Leaf — FMS259

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week the ever clever and talented Linda Callahan is our hostess.  And she has a great sketch for us.  Take a look:

fms-final-259-001

Since it is supposedly Fall, I thought I should make a Fall-themed leaf card before I lose the opportunity.  So I pulled out my Vintage Leaves stamp set and embossed the large leaf with copper embossing powder.  I watercolored it with some Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler inks.

leafI made the background with the Timeless Textures stamp set, using Island Indigo and Crushed Curry.  The sentiment comes from part of a sentiment from the Basket of Wishes stamp set.

fms-final-258-001

I seem to be in full Halloween mode right now, so I have a Halloween card for you.  I just love the adorable mummy in the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set!  So I decided to make him the star of this card.

halloween-mummyI paired him with some of the Halloween Night dsp and some Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper.  The sentiment was made with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

A Big Birthday Cone — FMS257

We’re ready with another sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week the fabulous Jen Mitchell is our hostess.  Take a look at what she has for us:

fms-final-257-001I love this sketch!   You can use so many different images with this.  I ended up keeping my card very true to the sketch and made a birthday card because I never seem to have enough of those.

Rather than feature a birthday cake, I decided to make a birthday ice cream card.   I do love cake, but ice cream would be my preferred birthday treat.  I chose to make a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone for this card.  I can never decide which is my favorite flavor — chocolate, chocolate chip cookie dough, strawberry… I always have the hardest time deciding which flavor to get at the store.  This isn’t helped by the fact that all three of my children have different favorites too.  What is your favorite flavor?

big-birthday-coneI used the Biggest Birthday Ever stamp set and coordinating Wish Big Framelits dies.  The color scheme is Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake, and Early Espresso.

The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

big-birthday-cone-close-upThis was a quick and easy card to make.  The hardest part was choosing the flavor!  🙂

Joyful Christmas — FMS256

We have another sketch for you over at the Freshly Made Sketches site today, and this week our super talented pilot friend, Jennifer Timko, is our hostess.  Take a look at the great sketch she has for us:

fms-final-256-001I thought this sketch was perfect to showcase a beautiful, large sentiment.  There are two that I love in the Wonderful Year stamp set, so I chose to use one of those for this card.  I kept this card very simple and very true to the awesome sketch.

joyful-christmas

I used my Real Red, Garden Green, and Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the stamp.  Some sprigs of greenery were added by using one of the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.

The base layer is a sheet of Candy Cane Lane dsp.

The Only Kind of Cute Mouse — FMS255

We take turns being the hostess over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and this week I have the privilege of creating and sharing the sketch for the week.  This is what I came up with:

fms-final-255-001

Whenever we go to the pet supply store, my daughters always love to look at the mice, hamsters, and guinea pigs.  I have heard so many pleas to buy one for a pet, but I have never given in.  I love our dog.  I could love a cat (my son is allergic).  But a rodent?  No way!!  They give me the heebie-jeebies!  My daughters think they are cute, but in my book the only kind of cute mouse is the animated mouse (like in “Cinderella”) or the cute mice in the Merry Mice stamp set.

christmouse

This cute little critter was stamped on some Shimmery White card stock and colored with a blender pen and some ink pads — Sweet Sugarplum, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, and Smoky Slate.  A little clear Wink of Stella was added on the nose, ornament, and star.

Basket of Fall Wishes — FMS254

It’s time for another new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  And this week our talented friend from Australia, Narelle Farrugia, is our hostess.   Check out the great sketch she has for us:

fms-final-254-001I recently acquired a new set that I was eager to ink up and color.  It’s the Basket of Wishes set in the Holiday Catalog.  It’s a fun set because there are three different baskets and four different arrangements that you can place in the baskets.  If  I could remember anything from my college statistics class, I could tell you just how many different baskets you could make.  It’s a lot!

basket-of-fallI totally stayed true to the sketch this week!  Shocking!  I stamped the image with Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  I colored it with a blender pen and my ink pads — Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Delightful Dijon, Rich Razzleberry, and a little Smoky Slate for outline shadowing.  This one is easy to color and fun!

basket-of-fall-close-upI used some of the Fancy Frost Specialty dsp, which has beautifully textured designs and has some patterns that don’t have to be used just for Christmas-themed cards.  I very lightly sponged some Crumb Cake ink onto the raised dots to add a tiny bit of contrast.

A strip of Petals & Paisleys Specialty dsp and a strip of a Copper Foil Sheet were used as well.  The sentiment is from a stamp in the Paisleys & Posies set.

We hope you’ll join us and play along with us this week!  We love to see what you create!  Meanwhile, be sure to jump on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see what the design team has created for your inspiration.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!
