An Epic Day Happy Banner — FMS127

It’s Wednesday, and Spring Break is going by way too fast!  I think I enjoy Spring Break just as much, if not more, than the kids do.  It’s time for a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches, and Jennifer Timko has a very fresh and clean sketch for us.

I used some of the Epic Day This and That suite of products — dsp and washi tape.  I still love this suite!  I also pulled out Gorgeous Grunge and Clockworks, two stamp sets I haven’t used in a while.  I stamped off these images first on scratch paper before stamping the background on the card, as I wanted a subtle look.

A Tilted Star Birthday — FMS126

Happy Wednesday, Everybody!  It’s time for a new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site, and I have the pleasure of being the hostess this week.  I designed a sketch with some tilted panels, so you can use a mix of dsp patterns or make a scene of your own.

I need to replenish my birthday card stash, so I decided to go that route.  I pulled out my Simply Stars set, and used a sentiment from a hostess set called Express Yourself.  I also used the little star from the Sale-a-Bration set, Banner Blast.

You’re How Old? — FMS125

Whew!  I’m finally back! Our home office/craft room project ended up being a little more time-consuming than I thought.  I had to move everything out of the room so we could put up shelving in there, and I realized I have a LOT of stuff.  When I could no longer stack stuff in the dining room, I had to start stacking stuff in the family room.  When my son came in later that day, he told me that it looked like we could be in an episode of Hoarders.

But we got the shelves up and now have a much more functional space for everyone, and I’m still in the process of getting everything put away in just the right spot.  That could take a while!  I’m trying to purge as I do that and rid myself of the hoarder label that I identified with a little too much.

Meanwhile, I did take a little break and made a card for today’s new challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Narelle Farrugia is our hostess this week, and she has a versatile sketch for us:

I decided to use a speech bubble for the circle in the sketch.  And I pulled out some of the Birthday Basics dsp.

Watercolor Dots — FMS124

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  With Wednesdays comes a new sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  And one of our very talented new designers, Karren Johnson, from New Zealand has a great sketch for us this week:

I haven’t made a square card in a while, so I was glad to see that in this sketch.  I pulled out some of my Watercolor Wonder dsp, which I thought would be such a pretty focal point on this card.

I was cleaning out some of my supplies and I came across a partly used pack of the Creped Filter Paper.  I totally forgot about that stuff!  I decided to make a pretty little flower with it and my Pansy punch.  I think I used about eight layers of the filter paper, and then scrunched them up a bit.

A Starburst Celebration — FMS123

It’s sketch day over at Freshly Made Sketches, and the CAS-talented Jen Brum has a fun sketch for us:

I knew right away that I wanted to use the fun images in the Starburst Sayings stamp set.  I thought the coordinating Starburst dies would be perfect for the little circles in the sketch.

Starburst Celebration

It seems like whenever I start out with the intention of making a masculine card, I always end up adding some little embellishments that make me feel like I’ve gone a little astray.    On this one, I selected some colors that I thought would make a good manly card.  And I thought the stamps were okay for a guy card.  But then I just had to add some pearls to the centers — I mean, they just needed them!  And then the ribbon — not very manly, but the sketch required it.  So I compromised, and just tied a knot instead of my usual bow.

You really should check out what the rest of the design team did with the sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches site.  I’m always so impressed with everything they make, but this week I am really in awe — such a great variety, and creativity that is just amazing.  I hope you’ll play along with us as we love to see your work too.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Wednesdays bring a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, and our hostess, Cindy Hall, has a versatile sketch for us this week:

I decided to use the filmstrip die from the On Film Framelits dies for the focal image in the sketch.  I combined it with a stamped image from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.

Make a Wish upon a Star — FMS121

It’s Wednesday, which is also known as new sketch day over at Freshly Made Sketches. This week the super fab Linda Callahan is our hostess, and she has a fun sketch for us:

I have to say that I was stumped for a while with this one.  I pulled out quite a few stamp sets before I finally decided what I wanted to do with this sketch.  I ended up using an old favorite, Gorgeous Grunge, and another great set, Simply Stars.

Make a Wish on Grungey StarsMy color scheme is Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie.  I think this card would work great for a guy or girl, and would even work well for a kid.

I hope you can join us in this challenge and post your card in the gallery.  I think we’ll have a great variety this week.  This is definitely a sketch where you can let your creativity loose!  If you need a little inspiration, head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site, where the design team has some fabulous samples.

Love Ya — FMS120

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Are your ready for another sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches?  Well, ready or not, the fantastically talented Rita Wright has a great sketch for us this week:

It has one of my favorite things — banners!  I decided to make another Valentine’s Day card, so I substituted a heart for the butterfly image in the sketch.

Love Ya ValentineMy Big Shot got a lot of work on this card.  I used the largest size banner from the Banners Framelits dies for the red patterned banner, and I used the next size of banner for the vellum layer banner.  The heart was cut using the Hearts Collection Framelits.  And the cute speech bubble was stamped with the Just Sayin’ stamp set and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits dies.  And last but not least, I ran the base layer through with the Arrows Embossing Folder.

I hope you’ll be able to join us and make your own card using this sketch.  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to check out what the other designers made.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

You & Me — FMS119

It’s good to be back on schedule with another Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Today, the lovely Cindy Lovell, who has been so kind to step in with us, has an awesome sketch for us.  I think you’ll find it right on trend, as I’ve seen so many cards which have panels set on an angle.

I knew I wanted to make another Valentine’s card, so I substituted a heart for the star image on the sketch.  And since I love the look of doilies for Valentine’s Day, I added that too.  I like the way the doily softened up the lines of the sketch.

Me and YouI hope you can make the time to join us and create your own card using the sketch.  We love to look through the gallery each week and get inspiration from your creations.  Hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site and check out what the other designers made.

It’s good to be back with another sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week Jen Mitchell has a great, simple sketch to get us back in the creative spirit.  She is so masterful with making CAS cards that are so beautiful.

I decided to use a floral image from the new set, Peaceful Petals.  It has some beautiful images that are perfect for coloring.  I used a blender pen and my ink pads for coloring.
