Textured Speech Bubble Valentines — Monday Montage #12

Monday Montage Banner -- October

Welcome to another Monday Montage blog hop!  Grab yourself something warm to drink, scoot up your chair, and have fun looking through all ten blogs.  All you have to do is click on the “Next” button at the end of each post.

I decided to play with the super fun speech bubbles in the new Word Bubbles Framelits Dies set.  There are several fun shapes in this set, and they coordinate perfectly with the cute Just Sayin’ stamp set.  Rather than use the coordinating stamp set, I chose to play around with negative images in the speech bubbles — more specifically, hearts since it’s getting close to Valentine’s Day.

Textured Speech Bubble HeartsOn this first card, I used the small heart punch and the smallest die in the Hearts Collection Framelits for the negative images.  I also pulled out some Pink Pirouette Core-dinations card stock and used the Decorative Dots embossing folder, which is available only during Sale-a-Bration, and sanded it a little bit.  I wish I’d remember to use this stuff more — I love it!

I Freakin' Love You ValentineOn this next card, I used the Arrows embossing folder on regular Pink Pirouette card stock, and I used the Yippee-Skippee stamp set for the sentiment.  Once I got the Smoky Slate 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon arranged the way I liked, I used a stapler to hold it down, and then covered that with the button.

I think you’re ready to hop on over to Breelin Renwick’s blog to see what awesome creations she’s made this time.  If you prefer to work backwards, you can click the “Back” button and go visit Wendy Weixler’s fabulous blog.  Either way, you should be able to work your way through all of the other nine blogs.

Hello, My Name Is

As soon as I saw the stamp set, Starburst Sayings, I immediately thought of the song, “Hello, My Name Is”, by Matthew West.  And as soon as I thought of that song, I immediately started singing it and it was stuck in my head for the rest of the day.  Do you know that song?  If you don’t, here’s a link to the video.  Be warned though — it is super catchy and you just might be singing it all day.  But that’s ok — the words are so meaningful and full of truth, and the song will just make you happy.

As soon as I got this set, I knew I had to make a card for a sweet friend.  We were roommates at convention last summer, and it seemed like one of us was singing this song all of the time, as it was on the radio so much back then.

Child of the One True King

I printed “Child of the one true King” on my computer and pasted it on the card.  That comes from the chorus of the song:

Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I’ve been saved, I’ve been changed, I have been set free
“Amazing Grace” is the song I sing
Hello, my name is child of the one true King

This is a fun stamp set.  Not only does it have some great sentiments, but it also coordinates with the Starburst Framelits dies.  Love them!

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Make a Wish upon a Star — FMS121

It’s Wednesday, which is also known as new sketch day over at Freshly Made Sketches. This week the super fab Linda Callahan is our hostess, and she has a fun sketch for us:

I have to say that I was stumped for a while with this one.  I pulled out quite a few stamp sets before I finally decided what I wanted to do with this sketch.  I ended up using an old favorite, Gorgeous Grunge, and another great set, Simply Stars.

Make a Wish on Grungey StarsMy color scheme is Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie.  I think this card would work great for a guy or girl, and would even work well for a kid.

I hope you can join us in this challenge and post your card in the gallery.  I think we’ll have a great variety this week.  This is definitely a sketch where you can let your creativity loose!  If you need a little inspiration, head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site, where the design team has some fabulous samples.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Gold Dots and Birthday Candles

Gold Polka Dots and Candles

This Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum is so fun!  It adds an instant touch of glam to whatever you make.

I needed to make a birthday card for a sweet friend, and I hadn’t used the Birthday Candles wheel in a while so I pulled it out.  I stamped the candles in Pool Party, Strawberry Slush and Midnight Muse (it looks black in the photo, but it’s really dark blue).  I layered a sheet of white card stock behind the vellum.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hello, Spring (?)

I decided to take a break from Valentine’s preparations, and make something a little Spring-like using some of the fun new Sale-a-Bration dsp (it’s available tomorrow, and for free with a $50 purchase).

Hello Sweet SorbetOne color that I haven’t used much yet is Pistachio Pudding.  I’m glad to see it’s included in the new Sale-a-Bration dsp, Sweet Sorbet.  The patterns in this dsp are so pretty and fresh.

I embossed the Pistachio Pudding base with clear embossing powder, and I used the fabulous new Hardwood background stamp.

Enjoy your Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Hardwood, Four You
Ink:  Versamark
Paper:  Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, Sweet Sorbet dsp
Embellishments:  In Color Boutique Details, Delicate Details Lace Tape, White Baker’s Twine, Clear and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Circle Framelits, 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon

Gold Hearts

I think I have just about finished my Valentine’s cards.  Before I get too excited about getting something done ahead of time, I still have 25 Valentines to prepare with my 3rd grade daughter (we don’t buy store-bought Valentines in this house).  And my 7th grade daughter wants me to prepare her Valentine birthday party invitations and thank you notes (yes, I have a Valentine’s baby).  So there’s still a lot of Valentine’s Day stuff to do.

Tiny Love HeartsI thought I’d try something a little different for me and set the top vellum layer at an angle.  I embossed the pretty Pool Party heart with gold embossing powder and cut out the “love” thinlit with Red Glimmer Paper.  A simple card, but I think the gold adds such an elegant touch.

Enjoy your Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Banners, Polka Dots, and Hearts for Valentine’s Day

Here’s another Valentine’s Day card for you.  I wanted to play with the cute, new Banner Blast stamp set and coordinating punch, which will be available for free in just 3 short days when Sale-a-Bration starts.

I used the cute sketch from the Seize the Sketch site:

Love Banners

Gold Dots Birthday

Happy Golden BirthdayHere’s a birthday card in which I’ve used a variety of different products.  I’ll leave a complete list at the bottom of this post.

I started by embossing the “Happy” on vellum card stock with Melon Mambo embossing powder.  I then colored in the outlined image with a blender pen and Melon Mambo ink, and cut it out with my paper snips.

I stamped the flower with Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White card stock and punched it out with my Pansy punch.  I then punched out another flower shape with vellum card stock and placed it on top of the stamped flower to mute the pink a little bit and give it a softer touch.

I also added some fun gold touches with washi tape and sequins.  I love the look of gold accents with white.

Enjoy your Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Countless Sayings 2, Flower Shop
Ink:  Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Versamark
Paper:  Whisper White, Vellum

Love Ya — FMS120

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Are your ready for another sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches?  Well, ready or not, the fantastically talented Rita Wright has a great sketch for us this week:

It has one of my favorite things — banners!  I decided to make another Valentine’s Day card, so I substituted a heart for the butterfly image in the sketch.

Love Ya ValentineMy Big Shot got a lot of work on this card.  I used the largest size banner from the Banners Framelits dies for the red patterned banner, and I used the next size of banner for the vellum layer banner.  The heart was cut using the Hearts Collection Framelits.  And the cute speech bubble was stamped with the Just Sayin’ stamp set and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits dies.  And last but not least, I ran the base layer through with the Arrows Embossing Folder.

I hope you’ll be able to join us and make your own card using this sketch.  Head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to check out what the other designers made.

Enjoy your Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!
